Here's a little write up for all the WJ guys that wants to join the Quad Squad! LOL....follow the instructions, and you'll have yourself some sweet quad tails.
So this is how you do it...or how I did it..
1 - Take the tail light out...and disconnect the harness...
2 - You'll need one a whole saw of 1 1/4"...then put it directly in the middle of missing socket...and drill...it'll drill a perfect hole...
3 - They socket can be turned into the hole without any other drilling...you have to play with it a little tho..otherwise you can use a file to file out the notches.
4 - Connecting the wires was trail and error...if you want the lower lights to work as tail and stop lights...you'll need a socket with 3 wires...a ground...minor..and major wire...
5 - Connect the wires from the sockets to these wires on the harness: ground to solid black, minor to black with yellow stripe, and major to white...
6 - Remember to test the bulbs before you put electrical tape on, as well as before you put them in tails, and then again when you put the tails on the Jeep...just to be sure...once everything is on...its not fun to take it back out again...lol!
I did notice..when drilling the holes for the sockets...that the lower lights have connections under the plastic seal...the same metal connection that the other sockets uses...it just doesn't have the "lip" I guess you can call it...kinda weird that they would do that...but hey...so if you decide to it the way I did...don't be shocked/scared if you drill into those metal plates...
Here are the results:

Congrats Chuck............welcome to Quad Squad!
Thank you sir. Man this is just the perfect look though, I always thought the lighting in the rear was lacking and this is the perfect addition, it cuts the tail perfectly and its good for visibility. Thanks Hannes for posting this up and special thanks to Paul, Mario, and Mon for helping Paul who helped me haha.

The Quad Sqad is alive and kicking here in the UK. I've seen a few about, mainly around London, so I'm about to do mine soon. Fortunately, we have WG's and the bulbs are already there as fog lamps, I've been told its just a case of making a link between the two bulb holders. I'll let you know how I get on...

I have done this mod on my UK XJ and you need to install a diode in the link wire between the original lamp holder and the rear fog light lampholder otherwise when you have fog lights switched on you will have no brake lights. You may also need to replace the fog light lampholder with a stop/tail lampholder(three wires) to get a taillight supply to the rear fog cluster.
Photos to follow.

Finally got the mod done today! Thanks to Rodaz, yes you were quite right, with the WG setup, cross feeding from the existing fog light circuit presents us with unique problems. After some thought and lubrication, I came up with the idea of using a 12v 4 pole change over relay behind each lamp unit. This method allows the quad lamps to work in normal conditions, but if the rear fogs are turned on, it reverts back to standard setup automatically and low and behold it worked. This mod will work on WG's produced in Austria, so should work on Aussie spec ones as well. I had to modify the fog lamp bulb holder by drilling(carefully!!) a 2.5mm hole and soldering a wire to the unused 7w tab. Strange that all the bulbs in the rear are doulbe fillament 27w/7w, just the 27w is used for the turn, backup & fog lamps!!
Is this the same for the US spec WJ's?????
Anybody that wants a wiring diagram and/or more pics, just let me know.

Glad to hear it worked , All I did was link a new twin filament l/holder off the stop tail light unit, connected the fog light wire onto the stop light wire with a diode in the stoplight wiring to stop a backfeed switching on all the stop lights when using fogs.

As a follow-up to my last post, here are a couple more photo's that may interest fellow Quad Squaders. My best mate was impressed by the mods that I've done and he managed, without my knowledge, to get this shirt printed. I was blown away when he surprised me with it a few days ago, so I had to share it with the guys on here!!
I will definitley wear it with pride at our next Jeep gathering and will have great fun explaining what is all about.
