Soooooooo today i go and fill up the tires in my moms WJ. Right rear cap wouldn't come off. Get home take a small little wrench to unscrew it. These are chrome caps by the way (big mistake). So i gently start to turn the fu**** and the steam breaks off...it breaks the f*** off. Now i have a flat within three minutes. I just bought a new TPMS at the dealer for 81 dollars. I need it for tomorrow just in time to get the alignment done on it. Is it easy for me to put the new one in once i get the tire off or shoudl i wait to take it to get it aligned and tell them to put it in and put the tire back on?

Yep, have them strip the tyre, fit the TPMS, and refit the tyre and balance you up :)

have then just break the bead of the tire...remove the old one and put the new one on. The tire doesnt have to be removed

Oh man, it takes like no extra time to remove the entire tyre..... he could even turn it on the rim to get the most mileage out of it. lol

Yeah i figure ill let them do it its gotta get an alignment anyhow. Apparently certain kinda chrome caps get corroded and bond to the stem. So it broke. Its been a pretty bad day for me. I don't know if i want to stay awake anymore.
In the process of changing to put on the spare, i bent the tire iron and also had cracked and stripped the stupid shiny chrome cap off the lug nut so that was another 3 bucks for a new one.
Grand total so far 84 bucks sans alignment and having the shop put the new one in.

When I worked at Discount tire, Alot of people would come in with the "chrome/metal" caps, and more times then not, they would be corroded on. We always advised AGAINST the metal caps.
