Ok, finally got the proof. First though, some general comments about a day with the car. It is QUIET! My previous SUV was an 08 GC 3.7 Laredo. I think the ride iteself is comparable, not a huge difference in pure comfort. I liked the comfort in the front seats in the old car, the back was another story. The ridequality for back seat drivers is impeccable in the new car. After a day I can't see any drawbacks or kinks. The remote starting function is cool but not sure what it is really for. Just don't seem to be able to figure out the use case. The panoramic sunroof is great. The bugshield will probably not sustain more than 2-3 years of open/close but who knows. Did I say the ride was quiet? Another great think is the thick thick stearing wheel! Very nice. What else...hm...well, I need to figure out how to be able to watch movies while in Drive mode and not only Parked. I'm sure my codriver will want to check out the latest flicks on longer road trips.
Only mods I could think of, after ONE day is...sorry, can't think of anything just yet.
Sorry, the pics are in the zip, I was not able to get them viewable in the forum, trust me I tried. Obviously something wrong with me.

Very nice.

Not sure where you are located, but here in the Northeast I'll give you two reasons why remote start is key:

1. Very hot days
2. Very cold days

Nothing like leaving your ac or heater on high from the night before or when you head into the office and remotely starting the vehicle and getting the inside nice and cozy. Remote start is a must here.

I'm in the NorthWest. I think I get the idea with hot summer days. However, having lived in Scandinavia for 35 years makes me think twice about cold starting any car without a proper engine heater first, then remote starting perhaps? Seems you need to be pretty close to the car though, about 25 feet.

Nothing wrong with remote starting in the cold:confused: Gotta start it somehow;)

The distance....I have it on my 08 Laredo and it starts for me upwards of 25 yards at times. Although, 25 feet is plenty as long as you are in doors in a climate controlled home/office

thanks! The V6 is excellent. The V8 was $1k more but did not have the sunroof, but had the QTII and tow package. Otherwize identical in color combo. Test drove it ofcourse. It was nicer in many ways. But, in the end, I'm kinda of a techno geek and like new engines in particular. The HEMI had the grunt, the power, but also the gasmilage and sorry to say somewhat dated technology (please don't slam me for this). So, in the end I went for the V6. It is performant, don't feel any lack of power.

I hear you. You gotta start that car somehow right? My point was, before I crank it (remotely or sitting on the cold leather) I want to have my engine block warm. Typically, it took about 45m to 1h depending on outside temp. My first GC was the 3.0L Diesel. But you basically prolong he life of any engine by heating the block first. The rest is more of a comfort issue in my mind.

Since mopar do their accessories, they should make a remote extender one that has the antenna on it,that can start the jeep over 500 feet, since they already have a big antenna on the roof of the jeep.

On the remote extender it should be able to start your jeep, also open and closed all doors including the lift gate, and also tell you your tire psi on all 4 wheels, just like GM,they have the regular remote starter like jeep for the Escalade, and you can buy a remote extender to start the Escalade over 500 feet from them as an accessories from them.

Well, yes and no. Yes, in terms of paying MSRP, but no if I think about what I got for my trade ins. Also, the fact that it "feels" like a ltd makes it OK in my book.

Yeah, 20" would look just fine on this puppy, maybe as winter rims:-). One thing that strikes me is the fact that this thing is way higher than my 08 GC. At least hood is 2-3 inches higher. It looks impressive when you are close to it. Not sure what it looks like when you see it in traffic though.

Congrats - hope you enjoy many years of use.

What I have found I like about the remote start is that when you use it to crank the Jeep, the climate control goes to full blast to either heat or cool the interior until you put the key in the ignition. Not sure how it knows which one to use - either by internal/ external temperature or by whatever it is set at when you left it last, but when it is 100+ inside the vehicle, it sure is nice to already have it started cooling by the time you enter it.

Dealer down the street from work just got two 2011's in - might have to spend a lunch break down there soon.

I'm finally getting the hang of the remote start, it is actually a really nice feature. It seems to be working off of the current temp. Just don't want my kids to accidentally press the button on the remote and have my cat die in the garage of carbon monoxide poisoning:-). I also had a chat with the boys at Lockpick today who claimed that their v3 would work just fine on the the 2011. SO, I'll investigate that a bit further and report back.
Btw, my wife has been pulling the trunk lever twice thinking that she disengaged the parking brake:-). She couln't figure out why the car was so slow...actually I think we will see a few of those mistakes. Engaging/disengaging is by pressing the same parking brake pedal.

Those are by far the best Laredo wheels on a GC to date. Congrats on the new jeep.

What are you trying to figure out with the remote start? You press the button 2 times to start it. Or you just have the key in your pocket and press the button and brake pedal if it has push button start.

If your kids do manage to hit the remote start accidently the Jeep will shut down after a certain time period unless an intentional start up is made manually in the Jeep by either key or puh button start. The Jeep simply wont run for hours and hours on end. I think the remote start timeout is around 15 minutes but I am not sure dont quote me on that number.

I wonder if that's the way it works with the new Grand Cherokee?

Okay, so in other words the Jeep does it too.... so that's good news. It makes heating/cooling the interior foolproof. No need to remember to turn the A/C to max before getting out of the vehicle!

Keep in mind that the heating/cooling system on the WK2 is the "set a temp and let the vehicle figure it out" variety.

This means that when you fire it up, it will note the last set temperature and the current temperature and do what is necessary to attain the desired interior temp. Seeing as how there isn't much point to remote start if you don't need the temp adjusted anyway, it's a given that it would get working on that immediately.

Yeah, that's how my climate control works too. But my friend says that he can turn his climate control off completely and the car will still turn on the A/C to cool it off on a hot summer day. I guess you can say it's a "smart" system.

Does anybody out there know whey there is no Flexfuel badge or yellow gas cap, or anything verifying that is flex fuel capable. The Jeep Website says it is.. but I cannot find a thing as I look through the owners manual.. owners DVD .. etc

The following is at the jeep official jeep.com website

http://www.jeep.com/en/2011/grand_cherokee/capability/powertrain/ (http://www.jeep.com/en/2011/grand_cherokee/capability/powertrain/)

Versatile FellowThe powerful V6 is also capable of operating on gas or ecologically friendly E85 ethanol fuel. Fill your tank with either fuel for a robust 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

If it's not badged as FlexFuel, it's not FlexFuel capable. Of course neither is mine but that doesn't stop me from running E85 in it every once in a while. Oh and on the build sheets it specifically says FlexFuel or not, 3.6L only.

And thanks guys for helping with my paycheck. :)
