Welcome Ladies and Gents, to my first ever install! and first Active system.
The Vehicle is a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7 and I'm shooting for stealth look mostly because I have no fab skills and limited tools. I'm gonna try my hardest to get the 8's in the doors without to much altering. On the Founteks, I'm gonna shoot for stock location in dash and reflect them off the window, but if they sound too bright then I'll glass up some pods and put them on-axis
The Gear:
Alpine CDA-9887
Sundown SAX100.2
Sundown SAX100.4
Peerless SLS8's
Fountek FR88's
Stereo Integrity MagV4 d2
Install Gear:

1 sheet MLV (split between the 2 doors)

1 Velcro Strips, adhesive both sides, 10-pack
Kicker PKD4
Streetwires CBR44M
Streetwires 4awg Interlock ring terminals
Home Depot Aluminum Flashing

I'll start deadening as soon as UPS drops the stuff off and get pics up. Installing will be enough of a challenge for me... I still don't know SH!T about tuning.
Onto the Pics!

+rep as soon as the install pics are posted up....cant wait to see it bro!
Hell yeah! This is going to sound soooo sick! Forget about tuning right now... just worry about the install and do it right. It's so much easier to get it right the first time than having to go back and make changes. Tuning is pretty easy to get the drivers to sound good, but it will take some trial/error, tweaking, blood/sweat/tears, to make it sound great; But that's all part of the fun. I remember I would read something over on DIYMA, run down stairs, try it on the stereo, run back up, find something new, lol, repeat same process.
I'm looking forward to install though, can't wait!!

Sound Deadener should be here tomorrow. I'll be attempting to do the doors when I get off work at 3ish.
My KNU RCA's should be here Wednesday.
I bought my speaker wire and wire terminals for easier running and switching drivers.
I should have placed an order with FurryLetters already but I got lazy
plus I still need to build my box and floor and get some carpeting and grommets.
Very nice... did you get those Knu cables in the link I sent you?
I'm looking forward to seeing more progress, keep at it Andy!

Andy, please tell me you put more deadener on the outer panel...?
Those SLS's are going to laugh at you if you didn't. lol. My ID OEM's shook the chrome door moldings with a full layer on the outer skin and a full layer on the inner skin.
Otherwise, good to see the install has begun!!

Yeah I did, that was about half way through. The idea with the CLD tiles is that full coverage is not necessary. what matters is adding a certain amount to each resonant pannel. so every flat surface got about a 25% coverage. But the Outer door skin got the most and largest pieces.
Tomorrow morning I'll have some free time to trim up the the MLV to make the door card fit, as well as complete the driver side.
I don't know if its all psychosomatic, but I feel like I hear the music better at lower volumes and that's with the stock set-up.
I'm going to be out of town for the next few weekends ( bachelor party in Charleston, and working the warped tour FL dates) so I think a lot of this build will be put on hold until after then. I was hoping to have everything done for the long drives up and down FL for warped but I seriously doubt it.

Oh good! Keep up the work man, I know it can suck at times, lol.
Hopefully you can get the front stage functioning in time, that will give you a lot of quality time in the car to use your remote and tune.
Phasing is pretty easy, as well as time alignment. You'll really want to spend some time fine tuning your crossover points/slopes and getting into level adjustment and EQ. The Eq'ing is a bitch by the way, lol. I'd suggest playing around with the graphic before you get into the parametric.

I finally got my Hakko parts in from Hong Kong, and picked up a cheap heat gun and a little thing of shrink tube.
I also bought a 1" thick slab of HDPE that's 12 x 24 to make baffles out of.
I need to hit up FurryLetters for some more TechFlex and shrink tube. I'm hoping to start building the box and running the wire in the next two weeks before homework becomes unbearable.
My To Do list:
Build box
assemble wiring
finish dampening driver door
run the wiring
Cut the baffles
buy install gear for the CDA-9887, and install
Install the drivers
Kill myself trying to tune

yeah I was wondering where the progress was...keep us posted and best of luck to you finishing it up!!!
Ahhh! I told you to buy twice as much techflex/heat shrink as you think you would need! haha, j/k. I had to order twice from him too.
Progress looks good so far, keep us posted!

Hey Matt, have you seen the Pioneer DEX-P99RS? I don't know if you have been on DIYMA lately.

Haven't been on DIYMA in a very long time.
Looks like the P9 replacement... I wonder if they'll bring this one to the states. 4-way active and a 31-band EQ (l/r ?) - looks like one nasty deck. I'll keep my eye out. I loved my old 880PRS - the l/r EQ was nice!
