Acceleration numbers for the GC are pretty much in line with other reports.

Yup, it loses the drag race, for those who care. The Pentastar is more a spinner than a low end grunt (although the torque curve is fairly broad, it's still an oversquare engine).

It is what it is, and you can't please everybody.

I wouldn't care what the performance figures had to say about that 4Runner...you need a bag over your head to walk up to it in the driveway. Seriously, the exterior and interior seem to have been designed almost 20 years ago. The ZJ is a better looking vehicle than this. Just too fugly to be given a second look in today's choices.

I'm glad to see the editors were honest about this

As always, it all comes back full circle to needing a better shiftbox. So far, nothing but can-kicking from Chrysler on when this will take place.

We drove a dealer's 2WD, and with a 400 pound reduction over the Overland the 5-speed was pretty decent, even if still tardy right off the line. But who wants 2WD?

When the Flex came out, it was hammered from all sides for lacking a telescoping steering wheel. Presto, the next year Ford added telescoping steering. Gotta wonder whether Chrysler/Fiat has that same mindset.

Simply adding a telescoping steering wheel is a little different that totally developing, testing, building, and implementing a whole new transmission.

the interesting part is that they have a transmission that they are going to be using in 2012 and 2013 vehicles the 8 speed transmission that they've been working on ... so let's hope the GC gets it too

I am quite familiar with the ZF tranny however it will not be available in the Wk2 until 2013 or 2014 so like I previously said it will take longer to implement it than simply adding a telescoping steering wheel.

can't wait till the 8 speed paired up with new GC

Am I misinformed, or doesn't the ZF transmission exist and is already being used for German cars?

Yeah, I agree. Over on the 4Runner forums, there are arguments all the time about how ugly they made the new 4Runner. The majority of guys who own the older models just hate the new one (myself included) and the guys who actually own a new 4Runner are always defending its looks. But to me, it's really ugly, especially from the rear. The taillights look like an afterthought...they stick out like something a child would build with Legos. LOL

Ive seen a couple new 4runners....they are ok...but nothing as nice as the 2011 WK2. And...you have to buy the special offroad edition of the 4runer to get one as capable as most wk2's. Plus the interiors looked like a cheap econo cars...

The Trail Edition comes with all the offroad goodies, but the other two models (SR5 & Limited) are also very capable. The Limited comes with a torsen center diff (lockable) and ATRAC, but has goofy 20" wheels with low profile tires. The SR5 doesn't have a center diff at all (but still has ATRAC) and is basically the same as a Trail Edition without the extra offroad features. Any of the three is perfectly fine offroad, especially if you ditch those 20" Limited wheels/tires for something a bit more suited for offroad duty.

The 4runner has the awkward blocky interior styling of the FJ (who likes that shit anyway?) terrible.

The FJ Cruiser will be history soon. I think it might see one more model year at the most. So a lot of guys speculate that they made the new 4Runner more like the FJ in terms of styling (inside and out) to attract a combination of 4Runner and FJ guys.

Personally, I never liked the styling of the FJ....so it should be no surprise that I don't like the new 4Runner either.

That wwould be a very strange styling choice. The FJ was odd looking, with some styling tricks to make it look like it was purpose built...the hatch spare tire bump with first aid kit!

Odd why they compared a trail edition to a JGC without the off road adventure 2 package. It seems like the most comparable T4R would have been the Limited, both having 20" tires.

They may not have had a directly comparable model in the press fleet. The media doesn't get to specify exactly what they'd like on the test vehicles. The manufacturer puts a few vehicles in the press fleet, and that's what is available.

LOL, mate, I'm a co-owner here. I can read the post you deleted ;)
No, I did not whinge or cry about your sig, nor did I delete it.
Evidently you took my post at face value and did not pick up on my sarcastic/tongue-in-cheek behaviour.

You will have a much better time here if you build a bridge, then walk over it.

I deleted my post after I realized that my sig is still in place. For some reason, it no longer appears when I post.

Either way, I couldn't care less if you can read my posts or deleted posts. I don't like your attitude and you really should try harder to set an example as a co-owner or whatever the hell you consider yourself.

Your sig only appears on your initial post to a thread. If you post again in the same thread, it will not show anymore.

Okay, thanks. But that doesn't explain why my sig just appeared on my last post when I've posted on this thread earlier. This is strange how this forum works.

It only shows for you when u post......its only shown once on any certain page. That helps to cut down on clutter. Some members think they need huge sigs......and I'm prolly included in that bunch......lololol

Yep, and it's nice that this software pares them down to only once per thread. 8x10 pics, and a single column listing of "future mods" take a lot of screen space!!! ;)
