Hey guys I am going to be installing a pioneer avic-n5 in to my 05 GC and I need to know where the vss wire is. Does any one know where I can find it?

explain what the VSS wire does. I wired a similar unit into my jeep i might be able to help but i forgot what exactly the wire is for.
Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
In addition to the standard power and ground leads, remote-mount navigation (and even some in-dash units) systems connect to a vehicle's Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) wire. Your vehicle's cruise control uses the VSS wire to determine the vehicle's speed — it serves the same function for the navigation system. (Don't substitute the tachometer signal wire for the VSS wire — the tach signal wire sends pulses as long as the engine is running, even when the car is sitting still.) The VSS wire sends a series of pulses (from 800 to just over 1,000 per mile) only when the vehicle is in motion. If the VSS wire is not hooked up, the navigation system will not realize that the car is moving at all, and will be unable to track position.
I'm not too familiar with this wire or the installation of navigation systems. I found this link though and it seems like it's what you are looking for...

Hey guys i just looked in my jeep and this is all I could find you think this might be it?
The first one is a picture of the panel opened up and the second is a closer pic of the wire. Sorry for the bad quality it was impossible to focus.

I would go out on the limb and say, yes, that's it. If that's the only white/orange wire in the region, then I say splice it and go for it.

Sorry to perform some serious thread necromancy, but did the orange/white wire end up working? I'm about to do a GPS install this weekend and want to be sure what I'm digging for.
