So as many may know i have a how to section here to assist in installing LEDS into your Jeep. When i first started out i went and bought a "kit" on ebay. Ok it worked for a while and i guess it was okay. However, i have been getting a few lights (map and rear passenger) that have been doing this weird flickering thing when they are on. Since not all of them do it im assuming its crappy LED bulbs? Anyone have suggestions on bulbs that wont break the bank for a unemployed graduate and or reasons why this may be happening?

Do you have a resistor?

No i dont, which is why i get the 10% glow when the Jeep is running. That is okay, i kinda like it anyhow. However, my lights did not do this until recently.

Put a resistor in the trunk light.

try contacting your seller, maybe get a replacement for free

The resistor will most likely help, at least a little, it's mainly going to be poopy LEDs if you bought them for dirt cheap on eBay. It also depends on the LEDs themselves...so many factors can effect the performance.

Here is a good article on LEDs and resistors - Click Here (http://tinkerlog.com/2009/04/05/driving-an-led-with-or-without-a-resistor/)

Yeah sometimes it pays to spend the extra for good led's. My whole kit cost about $90. from V-LED. glove box, visor, under dash, rear cargo, back seat reading, front map, license plate. I also did the carco light strip and thats when I got the glow. I plugged a resistor in the cargo light on the door and never had a problem since... I just bent the leads on the resistor ti fit in where the wires go into the harness and used electrical tape to hold it in place...

well i think im going to look into the incandescent light in the cargo area first followed by the resistor idea.

Mine flickered sometimes because one of the soldering contacts wasn't fully soldered to the end of the bulb so it kept losing the connection.

I'm telling you guys. Throw a resistor in there and you'll be good. Cost less than $5. And 10 min of your time.

so you just put a resistor on one of the lights??? orrr???

I just pushed the ends into the back of the connector on the wiring harness. and secured it with electrical tape. Or if you don't want to do that just throw a stock bulb in the cargo door. There's enough resistance in the halogen bulb will absorbe enough current to stop the flickering.

Something tells me that Wk + LEDs = headache.

Not at all. My interior and license plate even the led light strip over the cargo area had worked perfect from day one. I got all my led's from V-Led.com

What value resistor did you use? I will solder one on to the cargo led and see what happens. Im really good at soldering right now, done enough of it now and think its def the proper way to do electrical work. I did all my stereo system connections with solder. i bought the butane torch from home depot, lets me do soldering outside right in the car. def worth it.
