the top one Diamond XXL
http://customcargrills.com/products.asp?id=1
they have a scrap page i was able to get a 48 x 12 piece for pretty cheap.
painted it grey and cleared.
I didnt take off the whole bumper, I removed the lower piece, then there are 3 bolts hold it in down there. took those out and this thing slides in. going to use 2-3 tiny little zip ties to make sure it doesnt move. then if I ever get the bumper off. Ill can try a more permanent mount.

So here are the install pics. I only wish the mesh was cut different and I could ahve turned it 90 degrees. I think it would match better then.
So here is a pic showing the 3 bolts I removed to get access to slide my grill in.

I didnt even use any zipties. The very front part is sandwhich between the bumper and the metal support and once I put the lower screws back in, its good and snug.
If i ever take the bumper off, Ill do a more permanent install, but for now it doesnt move or wiggle hardly at all.

Thanks Hannes. If it was turned 90 degrees it would be a perfect smaller version. But for now, should be good to go!

Another great mod to your already fantastic looking Jeep, Rob. Do you think diamond woven stainless would work? I notice you had to put quite a bend in the mesh.

Got the mesh installed. I didn't do what you did, but instead replaced the ugly plactic in the original grill with the mesh. I got the powdercoated version. First pic is original grill.

Thanks for the input. The main reason for this is to keep the rad in good shape if possible, it looks terrible at the bottom...

so while i had the hood painted i took off the front grill and headlights to save 50 bucks so i had time to attach my lower mesh correctly. I just had it sandwhiched in there before.
SO I trimmed my mesh to fit in the opening using slots n the bottom wo fit around the little humps. themn i drilled some real small holes 3/32 and used ss safety wire and a pliers to twist it.
here some pics
from the front

from back
