Why are there so many V6 engine from Chrysler?

The JK has a 3.8 from the pacifica. Everyone i have talked to says it sucks compared to the 3.7 V6.

The Liberty, WK and the Commander(that thing must be a dog) all have the 3.7 V6

The cars all have the 3.5 V6.

I can understand the smaller 3.5 for the cars, But Why the 3.8 in the JK and not the 3.7?

Just something i have always wondered when ti came to the unfortunate demise of the 4.0 (i still dont get why they did that).

Considering my WK is a 3.7 it's not too bad. I had a 3.5 06 altima that used to move. I went thru tires like crazy. But even the FX35 infinity is a V6 and that thing moves. I don't know why the jeep V6 isn't as fast.

Maybe you 3.7 v6 guys can chime in here.
(take no offense)

Driving the 3.7 for the first time w/o every driving a v8 wk its really not that bad.

To me, driving the 3.7 vs my 4.7 the 3.7 is a dog and does not want to move out of its own way.

But, now that i know i will never like a 3.7 since i have a 4.7, How do i convince my finace that she should get a 4.7 and not a 3.7 when she goes to buy a WK, but i keep getting the "i dont need a V8" line. The other thing is she thinks it will be better on gas but it really isnt cause it has to work more.

I think that Mercedes killed the 4liter in favor of their beloved v6s ,and you for got about the 3.3 v6 in the base 300 and charger.

Well that adds another to it, I thought the 300 and charger had a 3.5 like the magnum did.

The base 300 and Charger come with the 2.7L V6 - a real shitter of a motor.

The 3.3 was in first gen Intrepid's and older dodge/chrysler minivans.

Engine options in the LX line are 2.7/3.5/5.7/6.1

WTF, and they wonder why it costs so much to make chrysler products, Slim them down a bit, who needs/wants a 2.7 in a car that big?

Who knows... all the homeboys that want to pay as little for the car so they can put 24's on it?

Also rental companies, lol - I've driven a 2.7L Charger and it was such a piece. SOOOOO ****ing slow.

Oh yeah 2.7 forgot.

the intrepids motor is longitudinally mounted.

Indeed it is.

Well I can def. chime in I think...I have been driving a loaner car from Westbury Jeep, Its a 2008 chrysler pacifica.... The thing is peppy like a damn honda...tons of pickup...and I believe it uses the same 3.7 I think!? I like the looks of it on the outside, but the car does drive like shit though, its front wheel drive and is VERY primitive interior....Made me appreciate my jeep even more! ugh

I think that the Pacifica either comes with the 3.5L or the 4.0L.

Oops.. just looked it up and one of the options is the 3.8L in 2008.

The WK weighs around 4,600 lbs. (http://jeephorizons.com/news/2005gc_specs.html). Way more than an Altima which is around 3,100 lbs. The Infinity FX35 weighs closer at 4,100 though. The 3.7 is a slug compared to the 4.7 and it works so hard moving the weight, it uses almost as much gas and will never last as long. If you want to tow anything, the 3.7 is almost dangerously underpowered.

I have a 2007 300 with the 3.5 V6. It moves really good. This is a really nice engine but I don't like that it has a timing belt instead of a chain. I cannot understand the use of timing belts that cost mucho bucks to replace when a chain almost never has to be replaced.
