So, I have been searching for a new car, and finally found my new baby. I was really looking for a WK2, but couldn't find the options I wanted and I got a killer deal that I just couldn't pass up.

It's a 2008, and I traded in a 2006 E55. I will get better pictures when the weather gets better, A couple of these are still at the dealership.

Thanks... This will be the 2 nice months out of the year car for me.

I should've took pictures of the tire marks I layed down just after I got it.

I have noticed that the traction control never really turns off though. Kinda sucks.

I had the E55 for about 3 years. It was a lot of fun. I didn't really talk about it here though. I like to keep things Jeep related here.

I just got it though, and I'm like a little kid right now! :D

Don't be racist!! hahahaha

I may expect that from nate, but geez.

I swear I am not nearly as "Hick-ish" as the WJ seems, hell I wear prada. No, that doesn't mean I'm gay!!

Another shocker for you that you probably wouldn't guess; My fiance is black. Seriously.

Sick car dude. Does the E63 feel faster than the 55?

Nothing wrong with that bro. All I was saying was that with the lifted Jeep and all, I didnt think you were a fast car type of guy. haha

No worries. I'm just a smart ass. I really wasn't all butt hurt.

I am actually more into muscle cars and fast cars than anything else. I just wanted something different that I can go break and have fun with in the mountains since I am close to them.

congratulations ... I guess being in the market for one lemme ask why did you trade in the E55 for the E63?

so which engine do you like better? My Dad had an 05 E55...loved the SC engine and all the TORQUE! I have driven an 08 S63 (performance package) and an 07 E63...I would like to hear your thoughts...other than all of the tech upgrades, strictly engines :)

Keep in mind I have only put about 200 miles on the 63

My main reasons were body style and tech upgrades. Quite a few small things. Like the 08+ E-class has a little more aggressive front grill and headlights. Aside from that the 63 feels much less raw, and smoother. The e55 kinda had almost a muscle car feel with the light whine from the supercharger.

I liked the Transmission a bit better on the e55. Not that the new one is worse, you just can't do the same things with it. IE; with the e55 you could "lock it" in second gear and launch at full throttle up over MPH. With the E63 it won't let you keep the gear at full throttle. Or I haven't figured out how to. Although the gearing in the E63 seems to be perfect.

It feels like the E55 is faster with the high torque put you in the back of your seat SC engine, but I know the E63 is faster. It's more refined.

As of so far I love my choice. It has the Dayyymmm factor that has already stopped traffic; the E55 didn't really seem to do the same thing. It's worth the extra money to me. I would do it again, but I think I did it at the right time for me. When I was a bit younger I would've hated it though. Just because of how elegant and refined it is.

I've read the same from multiple people... that the 55 feels faster but the 63 actually is faster. I remember back in the day when I kept up with MB forums, someone emailed MBUSA asking about the differences between the 55 and the 63 and they said that the 63 is much more consistent. With the massive torque of the 55, wheelspin would often become a big factor in 1/4 times and while the 55 could peel off quicker times than the 63, it didn't do it consistently. They said where the 63 shined over the 55 was on the track with its refined suspension, upgraded brakes, and lighter weight (apparently the 6.2L is lighter than the 5.4L).

Got any mods planned for it? And did you have any mods on your 55?

thanks for the thorough input guys ... I'm still torn in between the 55 or 63 I guess my main thing will be down to modding cuz on the mb forums they say that the 55 is friendlier to mod than the 63 ...

sorry for thread jacking lol

but yeah what mods you got planned?

I don't really have any mods planned. It's too new to me to really know what I feel it needs. I like the rim/tire combo on it. I can't think of any engine mods to do right now. I just haven't found anything missing. Other than a bit louder exhaust. I like to hear it while I drive. And the normal subs/amp thing.

I need to name her too... Feel free to suggest some for me.

you guys hit it on the head. 55 is more of a beast, 63 is more elegant and refined, and every-day creature-comforts! Man I miss going home and driving the E55 :(

Congrats on your purchase and great choice!

My Dad and I always had a rule: The car must start with what the body style or manufacturer is...my Jeep's name is Jill, we named the E55 Escobar :) The Range Rovers were Rodney and Reggie etc

First you need to determine gender...then I will provide you with a potential name :) My Jeep was a girl from the get-go (my baby), but the Rovers and E55 were men...is this your baby or bad boy?
