Hey fellas. I don't know too much about the reliability of the 2000 Jeep GC with the 6 in it but I'm thinking about buying something like this to use for 3-4 months each winter. Anyways, I came across this one in Toronto that I might look in to. Any advice, information or things I should look in to would be really appreciated. Here's the link:

Looks like a great well maintained rig. The six is super reliable and bullet proof.

I test drove a 2003 laredo special edition, had leather and sunroof, I6, 126K silver with charcoal in Toronto at best buy motors in scarborough before I bought my 02 grand V8 last weekend. I would of bought the laredo but i realized the 6 wasn't enough go for me. Check that one out and compare, it might still be available. I think $5800 cash will take it if you show him the money. It has been painted in some areas but drives nice.

Offer a little less. YOu know it will be reliable because of the 4X4 System and the Engine.

Only thing to watch out for are the blend doors for the dual zone hvac. Mine went out on my WJ 3 times. Thank God under warranty. LOL

If you're good with DIY you can cut an access port to fix this problem, plenty of info on the web. If you're not good with DIY then try to find a WJ without the auto climate control.

I'd also get a reliable transmission shop to check out the tranny for you. They required the use of a specific ATF despite what a lot of shops were telling folks years ago and using the wrong stuff would lead to problems at around 150,000 miles. Other than that, I'd buy it as a winter beater without hesitation. :D

I had an 2000 4.0L. Ended up getting 217,000 miles out of it. I live in here in Baltimore, MD. We had 4 blizzards, 3 in a 2 week stretch totalling over 60" of snow. Im a fire fighter and drove my 4.0L thru the heart of all the blizzards with ease. So, if your mechanic thinks it's sound, I'd say it's an excellent choice.
