I got the Service 4WD System message this weekend, got the DTC code from my superchips programmer - DTC code is C141D "rear differential control circuit low"
Found a diagnostic procedure to do in the FSM... I'm going to look into it tomorrow when I get home from work. The truck drives normal, I think that the rear diff might not be limited slip though with this solenoid acting up.

hmmmmmmmm
C141A-FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CONTROL CIRCUIT “CURRENT” PERFORMANCE
When Monitored:
The ignition on. No Solenoid DTCs present.
Set Condition:
The FDCM detects a current feedback when the solenoid is not active.
Possible Causes
WIRING HARNESS INSPECTION
FDCM

you got to check the harness from the front solenoid.....wherever that is......
sounds like this is typically a wiring issue.

I got code C141D, not C141A.
But, I agree it appears to be some kind of wiring issue. Gotta get out my test light and check some things out. Hopefully it is simple as something not being grounded well.

OPPPS - you just witnessed a genuine 'grey' moment. LOL.
C141D-REAR DIFFERENTIAL CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW
When Monitored:
The Solenoid is active, no solenoid supply circuit DTCs are present and battery voltage is normal.
Set Condition:
The FDCM detects the Rear Differential Solenoid Control is shorted low.
Possible Causes
REAR DIFFERENTIAL SOLENOID
(T312) REAR DIFFERENTIAL SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(T312) REAR DIFFERENTIAL SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
(T301) SWITCHED BATTERY SOLENIOD SUPPLY OPEN/SHORTED TO GROUND
FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE (FDCM)

Yeah I got all that from the FSM. There is a little 8 step troubleshooter/diagnostic I can do to try and narrow down the issue. I am highly doubting that it is the FDCM since the truck drives normally... I'm guessing I got a messed up ground somewhere.

yeah. a bad ground has a high probablility......
Good Luck.

So i have been dealing with this issue for 3 years now (the service 4x4 system and service electric brake system ) and no one can fix it had it in last week for a flash that worked for 3 days. i did allot of research and reading of threads on a few sites over the last 3days and compiled a list of what people have have fixed to solve the problem. so maybe this will help when trying to get this fixed. not sure if anyone wants this info but this is what i found.
1. LIMITED SLIP SENSOR IN AXLE
2. STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
3. SOLENOID IN DIFF
4. SHORTED OUT CONTROL WIRE GOING INTO THE REAR DIFF THE COMPONENT INSIDE THE DIFF WAS REPLACED INCLUDING WIRING
5. SENSOR ON TRANSFER CASE
6. ABS MODULE REPLACED
7. (FDCM) FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE
8. TRANSFER CASE MOTOR
9. BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH
10. The service 4 wheel drive light came on intermittently for about a year. Jeep changed transmission sensors, axle sensors, re flashed the computers several times without any permanent fix. Finally I asked Jeep to trace the wiring harness and to check the resistance because the problem acted like a wire was grounding out. The dealership set some time aside to do this and they found a wire grounding out under the transmission housing, repaired it and it was the fix needed.
There is no service bulletin on this as far as I know. Some of the check engine light problems are from defective sensors. But if the normal diagnostics don't find the trouble, ask the dealership to check the wiring harness for a ground/short. A couple of Jeep mechanics have told me they have seen it several times.

I'm not having the intermittent "service 4wd system" AND "service elec brake system" warning messages flash. This is JUST the service 4WD system message, and even when I clear it with the superchips it immediately comes back.
I'm pretty sure it is a wiring (grounding) issue since that is what the FSM says is most likely the cause for the C141D code, so I'll check out the wiring up under the trans housing and others.
If it isn't a wiring issue I am more than likely going to have to replace the solenoid in the rear diff or the FDCM (unlikely since if that goes the truck will only drive in limp mode)
Thanks for the info.

ya im still trying to track my issue down too just thought it was good info to pass on. :D

Do you have a copy of the FSM?

Click free user. You will have to wait a certain amount of time before the download starts... shouldn't be more than like 90 seconds.

NP... if that doesn't work I have a copy of it on my computer, just need to figure out a way to host it. Or if you have AIM I could do a file transfer there.
