ok guys if you have memory seats and heated side view mirrorsyou can have the dealer enable auto tilt side mirrors!
this means when you put your truck in reverse the side mirrors will turn down slightly automatically for you. After you take the truck out of reverse, they will go back to their normal angle!
starscan process to print out and bring to your dealer.

Many Chrysler vehicles come with a user-programmable feature that allows the side mirrors to automatically tilt downward when the vehicle is put into reverse. This can be useful when parking near curbs. This feature can be enabled on 2005-2008 models of the Grand Cherokee Limited, Overland and SRT8, b
Directions for enabling tilt mirror function with Starscan: 2005-2008 Grand Cherokee WK
1. Go to the FCM screen
2. Select "ECU Details"
3. Select "More Options"
4. Mirror tilt function is at the bottom of the list If the above directions do not work, try:

or
2) ECU View / MSMD / Misc.Functions / Tilt Mirrors in Reverse Feature
Then click 'Start', 'Next', 'Enable', 'Finish'.

You don't need the auto dim.. only the seat memory and power adjusting mirrors. I did this great cheap mod, both sides go down but if you adjust the mirror when it's down, it will not return back up, you have to do it manually or press your seat memory button again. Also they are a little slow so be aware i.e. backing up to get out of a parallel parking spot then quickly checking your mirror for an opening to the street, you'll have to crouch down to see the street b/c the mirror takes 4-5 seconds to return to its original position.

Has anyone had any experience with these auto tilt feature in the dead of winter? More relating to the ice and snow getting in there and freezing up the motors potentially or what not? Or is this not an issue?

you have to have heated mirrors so i would think it would be ok... nate will let us know this winter:)

No experiences in winter but sometimes my mirrors will "shake" into position if that makes any sense... it'll get stuck in increments until it reaches the set position. Having this feature will increase wear on your mirror motor b/c it's being used all the time.

Ebay? not Just for jeeps? Are they cheaper? I need the basic sensors so i will take a look.

I think it's the same sensor for basic or premium. It's the model year that is important. The WKJEEPS.COM site has the info.

I've had mine done for a while now and I didn't have any problems this past winter. I have noticed lately that they seems like they "shake" into place sometimes like Ryan was saying... is there any service points on these mirrors? I realize that having them move so much would wear the motors more than normal, but I wouldn't think it should affect them too much....
Marlin

No, you won't find any grease nipples on your mirrors, they're a sealed unit.
The only thing that might help is aiming a little silicone spray deep behind the glass, dubious, but you never know, some might seep in :)

Well, If you have the tilt function, Then you have heated mirrors, If its winter driving you prolly have front or rear defrost on. Well either one activates the heater mirrors and if they are warm they should not have anything that will stop them or jamb them. It should all melt off in theory.

Just on that Kyle, I have heated and auto-dim mirrors, but no dedicated switch to heat. Does the heat function enable when you have the heated seats turned on?

The heated mirrors activate when the widshield defrost setting is chosen (foot and defrost or just defrost) or the rear defrost switch is active. As far as i know. I have seen mine defogg when using either.
Best way to try it now, wait for a cold morning or when there is dew on the jeep, or any time there is a light mist on the mirrors.
You will notice it working almost right away.

FYI-any WK can add heated mirrors...no special wiring etc is needed.....just the heated mirrors are needed

I'm wondering when I switch from my mirror to my painted cryco mirror will the auto tilt down still register (swapping an old mirror for a new one)..?
Scottina06
07-23-2009, 04:26 PM
it should since it has to be activated with starscan and not stored in the mirror

I dont get why we cant control this in the jeep with the menu if we can control the easy in/out seat, lights with wipers, etc, and all the other features that this would fit in perfect with.

Ok I got my oil changed and told them to enable my mirrors (08 ltd, heated seats, power seats/memory, auto-dim) and they could not figure out how to enable...HE said that it is not in your options/preferences on your on-dash display, and I said no it is something you have to do and is not able to be activated through onbaord computer...so after reading this they need to use the scan tool to do this? What a bunch of idiots at the dealer...what exactly do I tell them to do to enable? I want this mod

 I'm prolly the only one who doesnt want this done. Only because of the time it takes the mirrors to get back to its original position. I'm saving for a rear view cam like that one member (who owns a red WK with the black pillars).

Update: I swapped my mirrors for the painted srt set and they don't link up to the seat memory and complimenting this problem, they don't do the auto tilt function anymore. I assume I'll need to go to the dealer to get this issue resolved but for the time being I can live with it.
---------- Post added at 12:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:09 PM ----------
I guess the memory is in the motor of the mirror...? Could there be another reason why they aren't hooking up to the rest of the system?

Can you control the mirrors with the adjustment knob? I would say you need it scanned or reset.
blackpepper
07-30-2009, 08:25 PM
The motor works on the mirrors, every direction works on both sides. It also has me wondering if the heated mirror function works too but it hasn't been cold enough to test it out. Either way it may or may not cost me b/c I'm past the 3/36 but I'm a good customer so it should be alright ;)

did all the connections look the same(wires all the same?)?
blackpepper

Everything clipped in fine but I didn't compare the wires or their color.
Scottina06
08-01-2009, 11:04 AM
yeah....all the mirror connectors are the same....so they all will clip in. For instance I have auto dim drivers SRT mirror on my laredo...but the auto dim didnt work till i ran a power to it. But it doesnt make sense as all SRT's had memory seats etc. Did you reset the Jeep buy removing the negative wire and depressing the brake pedal a couple times? Maybe that will help.....
It just doesnt make sense for the mirrors to have to be activated by starscan again........
blackpepper
08-01-2009, 11:31 AM
Yeah I don't know.. I had the battery disconnected through the whole process. I installed the new mirrors then reconnected the battery. I'll go out and unhook it again and see what happens.
Scottina06
08-01-2009, 12:37 PM
hmmm....well I know the memory/seat module is NOT in the mirror...so it cant be that.
blackpepper
08-01-2009, 12:49 PM
The original owner of the mirrors sold them b/c he wanted power FOLDING mirrors.. so they're not broken either.
My guess is a starscan and go from there...
