After toying with the Overland 18s (7 spoke chrome) in photo shop i looked, and pondered and really did not like what i thought i liked.
So i tried to play with a pic of mine and some JK Sahara (machined finish) 18s.
Here we go. I love it, Seriously.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/xtremejeeper/WK%20Pics/wk6-1.jpg
And before,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/xtremejeeper/WK%20Pics/wk6.jpg
So much so that i fell upon a deal on a set of 4 for (machined finish with only 50 miles on them) $300 on ebay. Well i should not have by any means but i gave in and used my no payments for 3 months Ebay Credit card. They will be here in a week or so.
Then i just need to wait until i save for new tires before winter/this fall, before i throw them on. Till then they are shed bound.

Thanks Guys, Technically i should not have bought them but for that price i could not resist.
Now once they get here, i will store them till later in the fall when i can afford new tires. I am not sure what size tire to get yet, it really depends on what brand i choose. I can get all the tires locally but for more cost but that will prolly equal out with shipping.
Here is What i am choosing between, They all meet my needs for both summer and winter use but is down to cost and availability.
Nokian WRG2 255/60/18 $180 each installed (local) -Supposed to be amazing year round, excells in snow and bad weather ~40k mi tire on AWD SUVs. readily available supurb reviews online.
http://www.nokiantires.com/tyre?id=11955&group=2.02&name=Nokian+WRG2+SUV
Pirelli Scorpion ATR 255/60/18 $179 each plus shipping and install (tire rack.com) ~50k mi tire advertised. Great tire rack reviews.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Pirelli&tireModel=Scorpion+ATR&partnum=56HR8SCORATRXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes
Yokohama Parada Spec X 245/60/18 $151 each plus shipping and install (tire rack.com) Unknown tire life, Great tire rack review.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Parada+Spec-X&partnum=46HR8PSX&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes
The 255/60/18 is just a tad bigger then the stock size 245/60/18. by about 20mm wider and ledd then 1/2" taller. Tire shop said they should fit just fine with out any rubbing issues.

I reckon they'd look great with "behind" the spokes colour matched, just leaving the flat spoke area and the outer circle alloy finish. These are are really cleanly styled rim, me like :)

Thats what i am thinking but, My only concern with them is i had a set of Pirelli Scorpion ATs before, They were an amazing AT tire but they wore down super fast, within 2 years under 20k miles and were supposed to be a 50k tire. I dont want that again. The Pirelli Scorpion ATRs also look great (yes i am doing white letters) and they are readily locally available.

ordered a 5th matching wheel for a spare (will prolly live in my shed with a matching tire since i am hoping to get runflats after i re do my exhaust) For $135 total shipped.
So now i have a week of anticipation coming my way as i await my 5 new wheels to arrive and then i can put them in my shed for a few months till i can afford tire. the first 4 will be here via ups on aug 3rd and the 5th wheel should be here around the same time. Now i gotta make sure i am home that day so i can take the packages cause noone knows i am getting these. LOL
Right now i need:
A job
Front and rear brake rotors and pads (getting R1 Concepts stuff)
Re do my exhaust, (i will go in to detail later)
fuel filter and tune up.

Do an exhaust on each side.............. But honestly I like the side exhaust you have now. Its cool. Or maybe have one exhaust on each side?
NHWK05
07-27-2009, 08:17 AM
Can do 1 on each side like it is now because of the gas tank. (i wanted it that way)
I am going to be changing the exhaust for a few reasons, 1, 2 people have burned their legs on it in the past week.
2. i am starting to get the evil eye from cops and i dont think its going to pass state safety inspection, even from the shop that put it on cause he cant put a sticker on it if he knows its illegal.
I looked at it closer this morning. I cannot do dual pipes one on each corner of the rear bumper like i was thinking because on the drivers side there is all that stuff hiding behind the bumper and i dont want the pipes below the rear sub frame, Pass side i could go right through the hole in the sub frame though.
My choices are do SRT style exhaust one tip on each side of the trailer hitch (but it will be hard as hell to get a hitch pin in and i use my hitch. )
Or i can do dual rear exit pipes, 3.5" SS tips on each side lined up just inside the rear sub frame.
Spare tire will be taken out so i am not worried about that. (hoping for run flats)

I like the wheels and agree with you that the machined look better IMO than the painted/silver finish. Let us know what route you go with the tires. I had a couple Rovers that came stock with the P Scorpions...I loved them but like you said I got b/t 20-25K on a set.
Thats a bummer you are getting rid of your exhaust. Have you thought about a dump/no-tip look? I wanted a semi-stealth look and since I am big on proportions, I did not want one single tip exiting the back straight out...so I tucked it under at an angle. Dude don't change yopur exhaust...a couple burns and a ticekt are the price to pay for looking/sounding that good :)

LOL, Thanks.
The exhaust is getting changed though, I am gonna have the exhaust on there up for sale as soon as its off though. (anyone interested keep an eye out.)
I already started getting ready for the new exhaust and it wont be done for a month or so.
I AM going SRT 8 style with the exhaust. I have the class 4 trailer hitch so i trimmed the plastic on both sides (of the trim bezel) and moved the 7 way trailer wire plug. Then when i have the exhaust done i am going to take the spare out. (hopefully i get run flats)
I am going to do dual exit muffler with dual pipes back SRT8 style with SS 3.5" tips.
Hopefully i dont loose the amazing sound it has now.
I am also changing it so i can put the mopar running boards on it.

Hey Kyle,
Good choice. I also got a set from ebay for $400 shipped. I went with 255/55/18 tires. I wish I got a beefer tire with the 255/60s but I still like them. Here's a few pics to help you make your decision. Good luck!

It really does, Thats why i am glad i did not get chrome wheels because i think it would have been too much chrome.
FYI, I have tracking numbers now for the first 4 and the 5th wheel. I will be watching these like a hawk as they get closer to their new home.

$180 each for the Nokians i want. (installed)
$175 for the Pirelli Scorpion ATR (starting to think no because of tread wear reviews) (tire rack not installed)
$151 for the Yokohama Parada Spec X dont know much about them, just have good internet reviews. (tire rack un installed)
I am still looking for a good year round i want everything from a tire, Run flat.

run flats.. most def since you will not have a spare with the srt exhaust

The problem i am having now is finding an affordable Run flat, that will be good year round. EDIT, Thet are out of the question! No way i can afford $300 to $600 per tire for run flats.
Also i have read a few articles about run flats having alot of premature wear issues. WTF. LOL

Spend big bucks on run flats and no spare fro SRT style exhaust or other exhaust and keep the spare under the jeep? Or keep spare in cargo area taking up space that i dont use... too often?

I think thats what i will do for now. The exhaust shop will go around the tire but thats prolly going to double the price. I can get a nice storage bag/cover for the tire to keep inside clean and keep it in back, at least for far from home trips, around town i can leave it and have my AAA free 100 mile service come help me if noone can bring me the spare from my shed.

well....I am a runflat supporter. I've had mine for 2 years and they have saved my butt once already. I hit a spike on the highway(I75) and the tire got me over 40 miles home with my family. Just make sure to keep the tire in the specified inflation range and make sure the alignment is within spec and you will be fine. That story in the NYTimes is bunk in my opinion. Most of those situations could happen with any tire. Why would those people pay double the price of the tire at the dealer when there are many online tire dealers? Of course I'm not gonna buy a 20" RSA runflat from my dealer.....thats would just be stupid. All of those numbers are inflated to make the story more sensational.
NHWK05
07-28-2009, 06:35 AM
I am not bashing run flats, i just think they are way out of my price range. I also have no idea what brand i should go with for what i am looking for.

Yea, i have noticed that most run flats are coming in 19 and 20" sizes. The Nokian tires i want are only available in a run flat as a 19". I think i am going to give up on run flats to save on $$ and just keep my spare (with a cover on it ) in the rear cargo area (i rarely need all that space where it would be in the way).
I might even leave the spare at home while in town and if something happens have someone go get it and bring it to me or use my AAA and free 100 mile tow to get me home.
I also drive around with a plug kit too so if i catch a slow leak or nail i can fix it myself until i can bring it to a tire shop and get a proper patch/plug. (like what town fair tire uses)
NHWK05

I cant take the anticipation. LOL
The single wheel will be here saturday. The other 4 will be here monday. OMFG i cant wait and i dont even have tires yet.
I think i have decided to buy 245/60/18 Yokohama Parada Spec X but nothing is set in stone until the day i buy tires. I found a great tire site with them for $126 each vs tire racks $150. Then i can take that info to TownFair Tire and they will beat the price so i can get 5 Yokohama parada spec x tires for $686 installed vs the $900 installed for 5 nokians.
J/w though, what do you do when you have directional tires and you get a flat and the spare is only good for one direction? Drive it just to get home and get it fixed or get it towed? Should i buy a regular tire non matching for a spare? maybe something used?

But back on that topic, Since the new tires are directional, should i just get a cheap used standard tire for a spare so i can put in on either side until i get it home or will that F up the AWD.
Also scott, what is the diameter of the srt exhaust tips?

Od, and 4" should fit just fine.
I am not concerned with the direction tread so to speak, what i am concerned with is the spare, if i have directional tires and get a flat, it wont be going the right direction on one side of the jeep. Should i just buy 5 matching tires and if i get a flat use 1 backwards tire till i get home? Or should i get 1 used random tire (prolyl a GY fortera) and use that as a temp spare?
