Lost keys!

Hi,
I have got my first Jeep, a 1996 XJ, off a friend. It had been laid up for a while and in that time my friend has lost the keys!!
What I want to know is can I fit the ECU, imobiliser, read coil and barrel and key set from another Jeep?

not sure on the 96 since thats when everything is plug in electrical basically.

but i have two XJ's sitting at home. my wagoneer is a 89 and i was able to strip the ignition and just stick a small flat head in there and im able to start it.

i know of another 93 XJ who runs his with no key either. again not sure on 96's since thats the last year before they changed the body to the sleeker,rounded off XJ (97-01)

It is the imobiliser I am worried about. If it is not activated will the ecui not allow the engine to start. To activate the imobiliser I will need the ignition key with the chip in.

I would call a locksmith. they can cut the key and program it to your vin
