Haha was that when they said the V6 has 305 lb/ft?
Robert Palmer

No. They were like the change from 8-4 cylinders is not noticeable.

LOL. I don't remember it when I didn't have exhaust... but once I got the cat-back on it was like night and day.

Yeah, it's very smooth with a std exhaust, but night/day with a system. But we all knew that would be the case huh :)

Ha! The picture/clip of the 4.7 v8 was in a WJ not a WK cause it had an HO and the intake was on the drivers side not the pass side.

Well spotted - TRAINSPOTTER!
I tend to notice useless things like that.
Like in the movie Twister, they switch between a 1500 ram and a 2500 ram and you can only tell because of the larger 8 lug hub on the 2500 in some scenes.

He forgot to mention that to get that 21mpg highway you need less than a 1/4 tank of gas, no cargo, be going less than 60 mph and be driving in the flatlands

I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed that. ;)
HOWEVER...
I never noticed a switch from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders in my aunt's 300C. She didn't either, just enjoyed the fuel economy. Maybe it's different for the WK.

Too bad it only works when going certain speeds. I went to Windsor Ct saturday drove home sunday, went to Boston Ma this morning and back and my avg speed while keeping up with traffic was 75mph, both rush hour and non rush hour and i dont think MDS works at 75. LOL.

MDS is only included on the 5.7L, not the 4.7L. ;)

Yes I know that. I was just saying if i had a hemi or for anyone that does and drive like everyone else, MDS will not really be use-full.

BTW: That was a Ram 3500... not 2500. ;)

So true. I'd never be able to use MDS. Which is yet another reason why I love my 3.7L V6. :D

No way, It was a standard rear axle, I dont recall seeing the old style Ram in a 3500 w/o dually unless i am mistaken.

Agreed, marketing gumph. Money would be better spent converting to direct injection.

I decided to watch Twister and I swear I'm looking at 3500 badges. (I'm watching it right now)
But you're right, I haven't either.
You know what? It MIGHT have been a Chrysler prototype set for destruction. Because in the movie the "AIR BAG" light is on, two different gauge clusters are shown, and somehow the speedometer rises higher than the tachometer. Impossible for the V10 to produce that much speed without downshifting, sorry.

I got 21.25 MPG on a 100% highway run from FL to SC running anywhere between 65 and 70 with not a full load but I wasn't empty either.

Of course you did with your stock-like tires, stainless steel exhaust, Cold Air Intake and focusing 100% on pussy footing the whole way going that slow. with slightly bigger tires and/or no CAI you would never get that mileage.
what I said was meant to be taken jokingly but it doesnt change how true it is

They lie also when they say the hemi does a 0-60 in 7.0 seconds.. put a cai and exhaust on it and your looking at sub 6.5 seconds...

LOL....but they dont come with a CAI and exhaust from ChryCo^^^^^^

Idk, wasn't "pussy footing"... had cruise on it let it do it's thing.
But I agree, I think in stock form 21 MPG was quite a stretch on the highway.
blackpepper
07-28-2009, 11:16 AM
it's a stretch for sure.. the wk hemi up to 07 said 19mpg on the sticker and the epa changed their ways and in 08 it went down to 18mpg.. with the 09 hemi vvt it went back up to 19mpg, complimenting the "8% mpg increase" that cryco claimed with the new engine.
