I think i'm in the right thread., I'm looking for a winch, found one. g8 deal 8000lbs for 355. my question is do i need a bigger alternator ? I kinda thinking no just cause how much will i use it. but when I do need to use it will i be killing my batt and alter ? Thanx

Your alternator will be fine, it's no different than powering a 1000w amp. WARN winches have my respect for quality and endurance, check them out.

8000 lbs is not enough for a WK. min is 9500 lbs.

He has a ZJ which weights less than the WK, 8000 is enough for straight pulls. It's always a good idea to have a snatch block to double the pulling power for those moments.
