I've never owned one before but has anyone had experience with the Thule or Yakima cargo boxes for mild off-road use? I'm wondering how sturdy these boxes (and more specifically their mounts) are with all the rocking motion. I'm only wondering about these because they will mainly be used for on-road trips, but with the occasional trek off-road on these trips.

My Brother-n-Law swear by his Yakima cargo box. He's been using it for little over a year now. I helped him put it on, and off a couple times, it seemed really sturdy. And it locked down very well. Riding with him never heard any rattling or anything from the mounting. Never went off-road with it up there, but I think it would be just fine in most off-road scenarios.
