Running a stock thermostat, under normal driving conditions it gets to about 201 degrees according to the datalogger on my superchips.

Since these Jeeps just have the c/h gauge i don't really know. I usually just do it visually. If i am crusing, it is below the half mark by a few ticks. If i am stuck in traffic ill usualy have the ac on, then it is at least half way sometimes a few ticks over half and the engine fan is cooling on full blast ("jet engine mode") just like today in Chicago. It is 98 and not a cloud in the sky and humid here. Really a great day.

Mine too. I've been thinking about seeing if I can get a mechanical fan on my 3.7L in hopes to keep it a little bit cooler.

Yeah i would say overall the clutch fan probably does keep it a tad cooler at normal operating than without it. I still dont know why it edges over the half way mark sometimes. I checked out the entire system and its gravy. No biggie.:D

How do you know what the temp is on a stock wk gauge? What is the reference point or interval? Whats the mid way point?

Went to Vegas last month...it was 110-120 degress outside the whole trip, 3 people and loaded with 200 pound cooler and bags, also charged the hills and went over 75 pretty much the whole way. She never went above the half-way mark even when going below 15mph...I was amazed. I got 18.9 mpg over the 700 miles, and given the outside temp I was very pleased.

on a 4.7 i think it's 210 on the half way mark? not 100% thought.

Yep.
Mines is just under 210, I'd guess 190-200?

Here is a picture showing the gauge, not the best angle and it makes it look higher but it's the only picture i have and it was taken to show off the mileage i get with my 33's oh, and 370 miles to the tank! YEAH BABY!! LOL

Today it got up to 96 degrees, beaming sun and all. My superchips was reading 204 consistantly while driving and at a red light. It climbed pretty quickly once I backed into my parking space to 214. MWoody produced 2 degree differential between ambient and intake air temp.

Totally clueless on the temperatures.
Is this normal? Took this today, it was 90+ degrees with the ac running on the first notch. 1 passenger. When I'm at a full-stop, the vehicle is kinda rumbly LOL. idk. Help..

whoa HAHA. so what temperature is this? (in the picture above)
And someone explain to me the engine coolant, will use of the AC affect the fluid (like will it use up more coolant)
-Thanks for your patience

That temp is right around 200-205 degrees.
The AC and engine coolant are two totally seperate systems. Your engine uses a radiator and coolant to maintain temps. Your ac using R-134a refrigerant, basically like a window unit. Your engine gets slightly hotter when you run the ac because of the heat that is being dispersed from the coil in the engine bay. The car feels sluggish from the ac running because your engine powers the compressor, which is the heart of the ac.
Refrigerant does not get "used up". It is a closed cycle system. If you ever have to add 134a to the ac, then there is a leak somwhere.

I prolly sounded like an idiot asking that question, but thats why I joined a forum to learn and ask about things I dont know.
Thank you MATT, greatly appreciate it. I learned something new today. +rep for you

No problem, alot of people i deal with at work have this belief that it's normal to add freon to their ac. When I get out there and they have already "diagnosed" the problem that they need a "charge" of freon. Then when I have to break it to them that there is no guarantee on how long the freon will last because there is a leak in there system somewhere they are surprised. And freon = expensive.
And thanks for the + Rep, i was viewing a different thread and i saw i was up to 16, took me by surprise. lol.

Same here today, 90* humid a/c on all day in city traffic (well not city like yours)
Try adding a 1/2 qt of tranny fluid to the jeeps tranny atf+4, and that should stop the rough idle, it stopped my rough idle and my stalling issue.
