I posted this in our forum but I do not think the traffic is high enough to get the word out... so I ask if this could please remain in the active forums since this is for the benefit of ALL 4.7L owners and is intended to reach as many 4.7L owners as possible. And the active forums is the best place.

We just need EVERYONE who owns a 4.7L and is interested in Cams to give COMP CAMS a call... they need to hear from YOU. So far they told me that YOU have not contacted them so they see no reason to make YOU cams.
Just click on this link and fill out the form... and if you like... go that extra distance and call them... I suggest those who really want REAL cams, that you contact them at least once a week!
We ask that everyone does there part and asking COMP CAMS to make us some darn cams.

Ah ha, Nick may want to update his website, last i looked his site was saying they were on backorder.
You had a shop install your right scott? Is it a pretty big job? Was it costly?
Did you have to talk to someone, cuz I don't see it listed on their site.

yes....a very good mechanic friend of mine did the HO cams install. there are a few specific tools you need.
Call and talk to Cory at justforjeeps and tell him you want the 2002 HO cams, springs

i have done cam install a while back. It is not a hard job if you are familair with engines. It's an easier job then doing a tradional pushrod cam. I didn't use any special tools but allot of guys use a wedge tool put between the chains and the slack adjuster so the timing does not change while you are removing the cam sprocket. I personally used some heavy duty zip ties and it worked great.

Sounds like it's a little out of my ability/cost range.

Thanks guys... I check on the H/O cams every week... they are non in any dealership inventory... There may be a few sets laying around here and there but as far as I know they are on back order.
BUT if we can get COMP cams to make us cams... they will be able to make cam grinds that make the H/O cams look weak. We will be able to get more agressive and even chose our own custom grinds over the phone.
In a nut shell... Although H/O cams are a great mod... they are our ONLY MOD as far as cams go... We need more then one option when it comes to cams. And COMP CAMS has the ability to bring these to our door step.
If you guys can.... spread the word on all the JEEP forums your a member on... the more 4.7L owners we can get to ask for cams the better.
If COMP CAMS makes 4.7L cams, it will open many new doors that have been previously closed to the 4.7L. We have SCT to tune our cams... so we can get more aggressive with the profiles and make even more HP... And you boosted guys can make more power with better cams for boost... Not to mention the rest of the after market will follow suite and start looking at the 4.7L a bit harder.
Again, thank you for making the effort to contact Comp Cams... I think we have already woke them up... we just need to keep them awake! Spread the word and we will have Custom Cams in no time.

If you have already e-mailed them... your next step is to make the call... The call does take a bit of time to get through but its worth it... even if the guy on the other end says NO there is nothing and will be nothing... If he gets 4-5 calls asking about the 4.7L you can rest assured he will bring it up to his supervisor... thats what our goal is... We want to saturate them with request to the point a small amount makes it past the "SCREENERS" who answer phones & e-mails.
Im glad to see the JEEP guys stepping up... Out of all platforms with the 4.7L the Ram and Jeep guys are the ones who do the most mods to them. So you guys NEED these Cams... and once Comp Makes them... The H/O cams would become obsolete and will not stack up to the tamest Comp Cams.

So scott when you were saying that the ho cams made 30 hp is that true? I mean i know the 4.7 with 235hp versus the ho that had 265. But i mean im sure the manifold was diff and some other things here and there. I think the wjjeeps site does outline some of the differences in their HO engine section. I wouldnt expect to see any major difference in the performance of the motors we have with this upgrade, however, if you say there was then it would have to be true since you have done this before.

I don't think puttin in the HO cam alone into the standard 4.7 will net you 30HP,the 4.7HO has a better intake, higher compression, the HO cam and better springs but it will help though. Honestly If you are thinking about cams hold tight and see what comes of the comp cams deal.

Yeah, i have been toying with a few ideas...
1. do a few more upgrades as long as it dont break the bank.
or
2. trade my wk for my moms 03 onyx green wj ho limited. and start the modding for that sucker. it only have 67k miles on it. It would be a tough sell cause she likes her jeep.

If it were up to me I would always start with the better engine. Most of you have seen what I have been putting mine through.. It has more power right off he bat where your trying to reach the 4.7HO's power right off the bat with the standard 4.7
mjl2610
08-23-2009, 11:54 AM
Yeah, i mean i like my wk but when i have to take my moms wj out for something and i step on it as a stock setup it just feels like it moves.

Hang tight guys... I feel the 4.7L world is about to be turned upside down this year... We have allot of customers building REAL Bad Azz 4.7L engines... Its only a matter of time before the word gets out what a great foundation the 4.7L is to build on.

Just got an update from Comp Cams. Was told that Comp Cams is working with Chrysler to get there H.O cams back on the shelf, and it is moving along pretty quickly....
Just thought I'd let everyone know! :)

Well this may be good news.... i have mixed feelings about it though. If they are making the H/O cams then this would mean they may be able to get Chrysler to pay them for the R&D for the cam cores... once they have the cam cores they will be able to fill CHRYSLER need for H/O cams & it will allow them to make other grinds off those cores...
I just hope they are not just going to bring out the H/O cams and then leave it at that... We will see.

Got a set of new HO cams off ebay and had them installed with HO valve springs purchased from airram.com. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Easily 30HP Gain. Revs up a lot quicker and takes off with authority. No more bogging down feeling. Greatly improved passing power. The install is a PITA my mechanic said but it runs awesome!

I would love to throw on a 08+ intake and a HO cam. Maybe once I start getting a few dollars in the bank after my cars paid off next month I will do that. Add a tune along with my intake and exhaust and I should have some nice power but first I want to get a chip, some srt 8 reps, and a polisher kit so I can keep it shiney. =)

No disrepect, but why would I gove you my good HO cams for some crappy stock cams? I can get a better regrind from my HO's.
