When the powertrain is in the economy target zone
When they have reached the fuel saver mode target range
Helps consumers adapt to a better driving style to help improve fuel economy and save money

FUEL ECONOMY - INTERACTIVE DECEL FUEL SHUT-OFF
INTERACTIVE DECEL FUEL SHUT-OFF (IDFSO) - WHAT IT IS AND DOES

Interactive Decel Fuel Shut-Off (iDFSO) is a software feature that expands opportunities for turning off fuel to the engine during deceleration events thereby improving fuel economy. The amount of fuel shut-off can be increased by keeping the engine speeds high enough (with fuel off) to prevent need for fuel rewet.
Improves both city and highway fuel economy
Fuel Saver Indicator Light will illuminate when iDFSO is active

Interesting,as long as it can be turned totally off. I'd have an accident paying to much attention to the display. Plus i'd get pissed seeing how bad my mileage actually is.

I have a question. Are the Dodge Nitro's equipped with a 4.0 Inline or a V style?

Trust me, that 4.0L is much better than the 3.7L that are in the Nitros. But it still fails to make you feel good when you hit the gas :(

what an absolute wank! lol..... you young fellas wouldn't remember the "economy meter" that was a feature of a lot of 80's cars, it was a glorified vacuum gauge. LOLOL This "new" feature reminds me of that.

Why? Anything that saves any amount of fuel is cool to me.

I see nothing wrong except it might distract you from the road but otherwise it's good at helping the driver save gas and it's also good at being a marketing ploy.

Are you guys talking about the fuel saver mode or just the light?

I see nothing wrong with either. This isn't a light which lets you know when you're getting the best fuel economy, this is an actual feature which saves fuel, not just some stupid vacuum gauge.

lol it reminds me of my 93 POS eclipse. It has an eco/pwr switch. I think it changed the shift patterns, either way it did nothing.

Heh, my mom has one of those in her Kia. You're right *that* does nothing, but this setup will.

I really wanted them to bring it back when they came out with the 2011 but no they had to go with a ghey (it's not strraight) V6.
