Here is what i said i was gonna do turned out great this is my 2004 grand cherokee thats fully loaded with the 4.7 ltr HO motor has a np 242 HD select trac transfer case to make easier making a list of what it has

Looks great! IMO I would buy some AEV Wheels, it will give it a nice stance too!

Was yours a Quadradrive? I'd love to do this swap but I'm curious as to how the 242 and the vari-locks would play together.

I'm a big fan of the 242, most guys like the 231 better but I think its hard to beat the 242 for general use(especially if you don't need a 4:1 kit or the extra strength of the 231).

Now if only Jeep had offered the AW4 in the WJ and TJ.........

Things i forgot to include about my jeep

-dana 30 (Front-with vari lock)
-dana 44a (Rear-with vari lock)
i believe it has 3.73 gears in it it still turns tires well no dissapointments here......can anyone confirm this

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Today 5/26/11 was first day of actually driving my jeep i got my rear tom wood driveshaft in it didnt seem to have any driveline vib. if it did it would been minor and came from front ran out of money on build it seems to be doing well with the stock axles and i read some forums saying theyre pretty good axles and hold up good but then also read oposite opinions on em.....anyone actually tell me more on em and how they do with my jeep having 35" tires and i refuse to go smaller....ive been told the vari lock is basically a locker ....limited slip

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

i added a couple of things since monday it now has

-rough country dual stabilizer kit
-new rear tail lights (aftermarket)

-next week- im installing a westin safari bumper with two 6" offroad lights and gonna sand, prime, and paint the undercarriage minus the lift kit and coils

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Today seem good as far as driveline vib. ....susp was kinda rough andcould be its a new susp. and also i think bb is making it quite rough ride also ....im gonna get 4 new rubber spring seats to put under over the bb to help sofen it up some im thinking they may have suppose to stay the susp isnt going anywhere ist all together correctly bb just making it rough ride but do not want to remove em im gonna make it as smooth as i can by getting new spring seats probally help

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

anyone with anything that can help on anything love learning new things please give me some feedback i welcome ideas and knowlege

CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME SOME IDEAS ON EXHAUST WHATS A GOOD TONE BUT LOUD JUST NOT TO LOUD IM JUST REPLACING FROM BEHIND CAT......i was thinking about 40 series flowmaster and possibly maybe dual it out in rear not sure be cool but mine will exit out the corner and ill take em up behind bumper and hve tips some out in left and right bumper corners think it would look nice iot will stay as single pipe not true dualing it and not cutting cats off dont wanna take back pressure off motor and wanna try and get the best fuel economy i can get lol use to get about 16-20 now im getting about 15-16 max....i wanna get k+n just broke

A. Lot. You're gonna end up having to dump at least $5K to build a stout 4.7L, without even adding any forced induction or including labor if you can't do it yourself. You might be able to source up an old Kenne Bell supercharger kit, they're fairly inexpensive now(~$2000), but super hard to come by since they're not being produced anymore. There's not a ton you can do past slapping them on, and driving it, either.

Good choice on the DS, Tom Woods makes the best stuff.

You should be alright if you don't bury it in mud/snow. They're not super strong diffs, but just be smart about it.

I had a TJ Rubicon that was lifted 4" with a skyjacker kit, I had a tom woods rear driveshaft on that and it was the single greatest improvement I ever made to it. Cake to install, as well.

Mine's not lifted, it's on stock height upcountry springs that I want to get rid of. I'd get rid of that budget boost if I were you, and just run the factory rubber isolators(get fresh ones), it should ride softer.

i have to keep the bb to clear my tires or ill be wacking the body even more im gonna put new rubber isolators and put em with the bb doesnt have to ride perfect just like it to be a little softer ride lol

yah i love the tom wood shaft just they undercoateed it and did not prim and then do it i had one end on jack stand while installing and peeled bad and its peeling away on the yoke end around u joints so it looks like crap im gonna sand prime then undercoat it again will look good again but for the 700.00 for sye conv. kit and driveshaft dont think i should be redoing the finish on it....im gonna get the front one when i get the chance and have some extra cash.

also is it possible to just put a wrangler 7" spring to get more out of lift then i could do away with bb suck because i could have just done that in the first place
