I use Stoner Tire Shine............works great...
http://www.autogeek.net/stontirshin.html
it's clear liquid, no slinging crap off onto the car

Just don't use a lot if you have larger tires like me. The stuff is POWERFUL. I use the spay bottle. Spray on and then wipe off immediately.
Edit: Meguiar's Endurance has zero sling and drys hard on tires and last through very hard rain. It's a low greasy formula that doesn't allow sand to stick to the tire.
Doesn't get better than that.

I tried the gel recently and even with wiping it off, it still slung it all over the side. Do they sell it in a spray?

I don't think you need tire shine with those mud covered tires! ;)

I actually use Meguairs Endurance. I Freakin' love this stuff! I always buy the gel and apply it on a foam applicator and wipe away. I use very little though, but this stuff shines just the way I like it.

I use Endurance gel...applied with a foam applicator, then I come back and wipe each one with an old terry to even everything out and knock down the gloss a little. When I run out, I might try it in spray form...haven't seen that before! I use the sprays on the inner wheel wells and the gel on the tires.
lll2for3lll
06-06-2011, 10:04 AM
I sprayed my wheel wells too. This stuff dries hard like no other product I've seen. Great for wheel wells. You guys wanna see?

Megs endurance if you like glossy, Zaino Z-16 if you like the satin sheen.
I got sick of satin (half way through bottle of Z-16), not endurance gel in store so I thought I'd try the hot shine. I hate spray on dressings and to be honest I'm not impressed with it. I bought two bottles though, so I will stick with it as long as poss.
Endurance is awesome stuff!!!
lll2for3lll
06-06-2011, 01:09 PM
Yeah and the thing about it is that the bottle will last a long time because it doesn't take much.
Also, rain slips right off of it.

Funny thing, after reading this thread I just went out and applied more hot shine, wiped over the tire with a foam applicator to get it even etc. So I'll see how it dries overnight, must say they look stunning now but if the excess slings it aint worth a damn.
I was in a rush the first time I applied hot shine, wiping the excess off after a min or two so time will tell.........
EDIT: I got a year out of a bottle of Megs Endurance gel, stupidly good value for money.

Endurance........absolutely 0 sling.

I bought the Black Magic Tire Gel and agree that it does a nice job. It does not spin off to the body. However, it never really dries. If you brush the tire with your clothing you end up with a mess. In Western Canada we do not yet have the MEGUIAR'S ENDURANCE tire gel at Canadian Tire or other outlets. From the US posts I read that it dries to a hard finish. I will give it a try as soon as it is available in Calgary and report back.

bought the endurance at walmart for $7. very nice product, better than the aerosol foams or even standard armoral protectant. best product I've tried yet.
lll2for3lll
06-07-2011, 07:44 AM
It's going to last you a long time because it doesn't take much to cover the tire. Apart very lightly and then wipe the rest in with a foam applicator.
Spray it in the wheel wells too.

I used to use Armor All spray foam for shining tires.
But Aerosol Meguiar's Endurance = pimpin.

Meguiar's Hyperdressing is the ticket. Especially for big tires. Buy a gallon, cut it to 1 part dressing and 2-3 parts water depending on how shiny you want them. Spray it on and forget about it. It dries smooth and nice. It's water based so it's easy to get it off your paint if any get's on it. It does not dry out your tires like all the silicon based products listed above.
I've used the Endurance Gel and it was great as well, but I may have to try the spray. I just like the Hyperdressing for the economy of it and the fact that it's water based.
BTW, if any tire dressing is slinging off, you're using too much. I've used every kind out there and if you put too much, it's going to sling, if you don't, it won't. Water based stuff like hyperdressing dries better than the silicone based stuff, so it's more forgiving if you use too much.
Oh, and if you do want a silicone based product so it will last longer, Ultima is the best out there, but it's like $30 for a bottle and it's way too expensive to use on big tires. But that stuff is the bomb to use on trim pieces, blows back to black, etc. out of the water and lasts for months

I just had a horrible experience with with Endurance aerosol, but I will still use it, lol.
I sprayed the crap out of my wheels, and pulled the Jeep in the garage, and left it over night.
Well, I didn't wipe away any excess, so the next morning I goto work. When i come out to the Jeep for lunch, there is spots all over my entire Jeep where the tire shine had slung all over it. Of course, my tires stick out about an inch and a half from my fenders, and I didn't wipe off any excess, so it is completely my fault. But damn was it hard to get that crap off the body.
I wiped it down that evening, and all was good. Lasted about a week until we had a heavy rain yesterday. I must admit, it was the shiniest tire I have ever seen - and I have worked in detail at a couple different places for a couple of years.

Washed my WK almost 3 weeks ago.........the paint is dirty but the tires are still shiny and clean. Been through rain storms and drive the irrigation puddle every morning.

I couldnt refuse the deal I got from detailed image. The stuff is awesome, iv had it on for a week now and its still perfect. The hardest park was getting all the old tire shine off but after that you just apply the stuff thin like tire shine with a applicator and it drys fast and it has not worn off after two washes and three days strait of rain, still looks the same. And depending on how much you put on (coats) it goes from matte to strait up gloss. Im in love haha
