How To: LED Halo Installation!

Here is a little write up for everyone on how I did it.

After your lights are apart and either before or after painting them. Tape off where you will be drilling your lights for the halo power wires to fit through.

Test fit them and mark where the wires will go through at.

Drill the holes with the blue tape still on so you don't mess the finish. Important Info: Use a wood bit with a pilot tip (real sharp point) so it doesn't wobble around!

Test fit them to make sure they align where you want them to sit at.

Apply 3M automotive adhesive tape to the back of the Halo.

BE CAREFUL ON THIS STEP!!!...you have 1 shot at it...once it's stuck it's there FOREVER! Now fish the wires through and align the Halo's where you want (might need a helping hand to hover the LED ring about 1/4" above the trim piece) and stick them and press down gently. Once again if you touch the 3M tape to the trim they are stuck forever...SO BE CAREFUL!

Now lets move to the light housing so we can get this thing wired up

On the housing tape off the area under the bright as shown this is where you will be drilling.

Mark out and drill the holes as shown.

Test fit the spring loaded wire connector (used for custom stereo boxes).

Now apply a small amount of silicone using a flat head screwdriver around the edges of the spring loaded wire connector...Be Careful not to get any on the metal pins and attach it to the housing with screws!

Attach the wires to the pins accordingly as shown.

Test fit the trim to the housing making sure the wires hide properly.

Now here is the fun part!

MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS CLEAN BEFORE YOU PROCEED!

Carefully align the trim inside the clear lens and rest it slightly off center on top of the housing towards the brights side.

Apply about 1/4" of Black Adhesive Silicone around the side marker area starting from the top clip working around the side marker light area all the way to the bottom clip.

Place the Trim and lens into the adhesive (side marker area) while holding the bright side up a bit so you can finish applying the adhesive around the rest of the housing in the next step. Apply the rest of the adhesive and align the lens to the housing and press down...you may have to press really HARD to get them to clip back in!

Work your way around the light and clamp for 24 hours and DONE!

Now once you get them installed...Here is how to wire them to your Parking lights...without cutting or modifying any factory wiring at all!

I will soon be making a custom mount that will bolt the regulator to the nut and stud used to hold the fuse boxes, for now I have just electrical taped the nut and stud so they are insulated from the regulator as seen in the pic below.

Now fish the wire you are using in contact 8 (Activation lead, red 16 gauge in this pic) up through the factory rubber into the fuse box as seen in the pic below.

Note: If you want to you can also use the power stud with the big red wire coming directly from the battery as a power source for contact 1! I personally went directly to the battery but I will probably change this soon.

Now run the wire through the fuse box as shown and into the last relay.

The first blade in the relay is the activation terminal. Simply place the wire into the first terminal inbetween the plastic and the terminal and replace the relay as seen below. Becareful to not place it inbetween the relay blade and the terminal and make sure there are no stray wire strands.

Now I'm sure you don't want your old front parking lights to turn on also as now you have HALO's instead. To fix this issue all you need to do is remove one of the inner wires on the bulb. There are 4 wires on the bulb. The 2 outer wires go to the turn signal the inner 2 go to the parking lights...just remove one and it breaks the circuit...doesn't matter which one!

Yah, I used some pinstripe tape to cover the LEDs mounted them, painted them then removed the tape, sealed up the headlights and all was good See :

are those halos LED or CCFL because from your pictures they look like they give off a true halo effect and you don't see the little LED pebbles. Is that because you can control the brightness or because your far away?

They are FlashTech LED Halos. If you get up real close you can see the individual leds but they will blind you as they are extremely bright. They are set at 10v right now and can be turned down.

I just told Steve at HeadlightSuperCenter.com that I had an 05 Jeep and wanted a set of 10K halos for it and he sent me the right stuff no problem.

I believe the inside of the standard headlights where the halos sit/attach are the same. The only difference is the outside/bottom where is meets the bumper. Just tell him your year and you will be all set.

I'm thinking of doing my fogs also.

I purchased the stereo connectors at Radio Shack and got them drilled/glued/siliconed in!!

question.....did you just combine the 2 positives together and the 2 negatives together from the SAME ring and then go to the stereo connector? Hard to see exactly how you wired them up from your pics........

you will NOT be happy doing these yourself

the rings you find for a DIY like off ebay will be FULL circles

our jeeps are not full circles AND they are slanted like an egg around the high beam!
