I could tell a huge difference even before my newest mods! Def. 20 hp stronger....better shift points, ran cooler etc. I can really tell the difference with the AC on. the truck PULLS much harder and gets to the redline faster.

I am happy with mine, even after the initial problem I had..But now I would recommend it...And the other important thing to do, is to update it frequently...they change settings and other configurable options...

I had a TSB performed on my Jeep and superchips had a new program for mine the next business morning.
you can also change 1-2 WOT throttle shift points and speed limiter with the superchips

how come airram only has stuff for the 4.7?
Scottina06
06-02-2009, 02:16 PM
he doesnt dude.....look at his whole site. But he does have mnore stuff for the 4.7 and he is about the only vendor that does. Everyone else is the 5.7 or 6.1
TeamCherokee06
06-02-2009, 02:19 PM
how come airram only has stuff for the 4.7?
It's supply and demand, most people have 4.7L or Hemi's(5.7 or 6.1)and it's easier to stock parts for people that will by them.Although the 4.0 is a famous motor people don't uselly build them to go fast so the demand is down and he doesn't need to supply. He does have some odds and ends for the 3.7 and he is getting more because the demand is there!

I will be filling up tomorrow at some point I'm sure... EVIC is reading 25 miles to empty, and I've put 285 miles on this tank so far. I'm guessing somewhere around 17 MPG for this tank, which is in line with what I got pre-superchips, however I've been driving a bit harder than normal this tank.
I'm more interested to see what I get on the highway now with the 91 tune but MDS disabled.
LTrainGC
06-07-2009, 11:11 AM
Got 15.96 MPG on my first tank with the SC 91 tune and MDS disabled. Not surprising because I got on it more than usual. I'll be a bit more easy going this tank.

So i am thinking of getting a superchip this winter when i can afford it.
I am a newb to this stuff so please enlighten me.
How does it work? Does it just plug in to the computer?
Do you have to program it the way you want it?
When i open the box when it arrives is it plug in and go?
thanks

I believe it comes with a couple different tunes already programmed for our jeeps. It would plug in to the plug under the dash. Literally plug and play.

im looking into a diablo, because since i dont have emissions, and i want to delete certain things from my motor, i can shut down the circuits to them with the diablo so my CEL wont trip.
the SC is amazing, i love it. the jeep feels great with it, all in all its just i want more custom features

it works by plugging it into the OBD2 port, under your dash. you turn the key on and follow the instructions, you can pick a preset tune, for milage hp or towing etc., or custom set your own preferences, such as shift firmness rpm ranges and etc..
when you open the box, hook it to you pc and dl the updater to make sure everything is up to date and working the best (it takes 10minutes) and then your good to go

Cool, Thanks, I am assuming once its programed you can unplug it and store it, you dont need to leave it plugged in?

just leave it plugged in......as soon as you hit the gas it starts the stopwatch...so to speak. My last 0-60 was 6.74(I think) with my current mods minus the TB. But I'd have to look. I dont know how correct it is though. Stock was like 8.??

I'm definently going to be ordering one next week, i tried timing it myself once just by using the trip timer. No tow/haul, traction on, no shifting, and it was somewhere between 7-8 seconds. 6.74 is pretty quick, is that with your manifold, exhaust, intake?

06-30-2009, 05:09 PM
Well i received my flashpaq today, really excited to try it out. So i made sure i had all the updates and went to my truck. The results, SUCKED! I tested 0-60 using the programmer with the factory tune. First off in drive, traction on, tow/haul off, no shifting. I did it in 8.47 seconds. Then using the shifter to change gears i did it in 7.72 seconds. Then with a tank full of 93 octane and the 91 tune installed i did 0-60 in 11.12 SECONDS!!!! WTF!? I will be contacting superchips, hopefully there is something wrong with the programmer so that maybe they can change the tune or something. Otherwise this puppy is going back.
Scottina06
06-30-2009, 06:07 PM
dang man.....go try it again...4 seconds difference? Msaybe you did 0-60 the first time and then 0-100 the second time....I dont know
Scottina06
06-30-2009, 06:09 PM
FYI-the 91 tune only adds 21 hp......thats not gonna be a huge jump in a 0-60 time....
mzh29
06-30-2009, 06:32 PM
No it was definently 0-60 each time.
UPDATE:^^^ I just tried reinstalling the program. This time, i unplugged the cord for my ipod and took out the cd from the cd player. I noticed the install took a little longer.
BIG difference!!!!! Feels like i'm driving a totally lighter car. I feel bad for ranting earlier. I think only half the program got installed, for whatever reason. It would not down shift at all when i punched it around 20-35 miles per hour, like i said earlier, it felt like a dead pedal. Then actually one time it was acting like a dead pedal and then all of a sudden around 50mph it kicked in like a s.o.b and i took off. I think there was a glich or something the first couple times. Like i said, maybe the ipod being plugged in did something, even though it was turned off.

Another note, today i tried the towing tune and it got f'ed up again, same symptoms as before. Then it dawned on me, i have an aftermarket amp. So every time i would turn the key to the on position when installing the tune i was also turning the amp on. In the directions it says very clearly to turn everything off. So i disconnected the remote turn on lead on the amp, everything was back to performance mode. So i would just like to remind everyone that uses this product make sure you take out any cd's in the cd player, do not have your ipod plugged in, and make sure your amp is disconnected if you have one. Also it seems like the rev limiter and shift points cannot be adjusted on our wk's. Scott let me know if you can on yours.

Good call on making sure the amp is turned off... I turned my radio off when I installed my 91 tune, and I don't believe my amp turns on unless my radio is turned on. I'll have to double check that though.
As far as the rev limiter and shift points are concerned, I was able to adjust mine.
mzh29
07-08-2009, 05:11 PM
What did you set the limiter and shift points to? When i went to raise the limiter the programmer would only let me raise it to 500 rpms?! I was like wtf, that doesnt make any sense. Then again that may have been due to my amp still being hooked up.
LTrainGC
07-08-2009, 05:34 PM
I think I bumped the limiter to 6200? I can't remember lol.
I set the shift points to 5800 IIRC.

Did that seem to help performance?
I don't know if just using the tune, or if upping the WOT shift points did it, but under normal driving, even under very light throttle I don't shift out of first until about 2400 and maybe 2200 out of 2nd. It pulls harder above 2500 RPM for sure.
I should reinstall the stock tune, update the tuner, and then update a new 91 tune with the amp disconnected just to be sure that it is done correctly.
mzh29
07-08-2009, 06:22 PM
Hmmm... maybe it's because you have the 5.7, but I just tried to adjust WOT shift points and i got the same reading. It says, rev limiter must be set higher than stock. Then i go to adjust the rev limiter and i have a sliding scale from i believe 400rpm to 0600 rpm. Even if I max it out to 0600 rpm it still says, rev limiter must be set higher than stock. I submitted a trouble ticket to their website over a week ago, still no reply.

You can do the "on-off-on-off-on" method to get the codes displayed on your EVIC then you can look them up here by doing a search, or post them and I'm sure someone will help you.
I don't think it should be a problem hooking up the SC though.

Superchip finally came out with tunes for the 4.7L Gen II. I installed the 87 octane tune a couple days ago and I'm pretty happy with the results. Stock, you have to wind the Gen II up pretty high before you get any power - so standing starts are kinda lethargic. With the 87 tune it feels like I have power from the first press of the pedal. Also, when stock, there was a little throttle lag - not horrible (like the '05 CRD I drove at a GSW) but still noticeable. Throttle lag seems to be gone now.
Another nice thing about the tune, which I really didn't expect, was better downshifting behavior with the Autostick. I downshift on some hills rather than using the brake (I love the Autostick!) - prior to the tune I'd frequently have to press the brake to slow down enough to then have the gearing take over. With the new tune, the downshifting seems more proactive - I feel a more positive deceleration.
According to the EVIC (yeah, I know it's probably not a truly accurate measure) I think mileage is improved about 1 mpg.
All in all I'm pretty happy with it - I really was quite skeptical - if Superchips can make my Gen II perform this nice, why couldn't Jeep do it from the factory?
