1. whats the story with tow/haul mode? ive been playing around with it and it feels like its a little peppier and i can feel it engine braking. does it help to use it when you're racing?
2. what grade of gas am i supposed ot be using? ive been putting 87 in and it feels like it could benefit from 89 oct.
3. what kind of oil and i supposed to use? ive always been a mobil 1 man. do they use 5w20?
4. are there any problems that i need to worry about?

You should use 89 or 91 or 93 Octane. I don't think it's good for you to be putting 87. As for oil someone will pop in.
Oh Yeah Joe could tell you the real use of the Tow/Haul Button. ;)

1.) Tow/Haul is my favorite button :D It holds the gears a little longer and it makes the HEMI very peppy. So yes it benefits while racing.
2.) 89 for a non tuned HEMI. I use 93 because I am CMR tuned.
3.) The Oil grade is 5-20. I used to use Mobil 1 but I did not like how it performed so I switched to Royal Purple.
4.) Problem Areas? Anything electrical, well at least in my experience.

Information on Tow/Haul: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_transm.htm -- It's great for around town, onramps and racing but disengage it for highway cruising.
89 octane gasoline for the hemi!
Nothing but 5w20 (preferably synthetic) or else your MDS won't function properly (MDS: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_engines.htm#MDS)
If you are under warranty check these TSBs: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_tsb.htm and see if your Jeep has any issues mentioned for your model year. Also listen for any irregular whine coming from the rear differential.. a few owners including myself have had it rebuilt under warranty.

1. You race your Jeep, lol
2. 87 octane per the manual
3. Mobil 1 5w20 (7 qts)
4. 65,000 miles on my '06 5.7l 2wd and I have had none.

Just to clarify a few of the above octane contradictions. The following is copied from page 306 of the 2007 Owner's Manual which is available here:
http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2007&nameplate=Grand%20Cherokee
"5.7L Engines (If Equipped)
The 5.7L engine is designed to meet all
emissions regulations and provide satisfac-
tory fuel economy and performance when
using high quality unleaded gasoline hav-
ing an octane range of 87 to 89. The manu-
facturer recommends the use of 89 octane
for optimum performance. The use of premium gasoline
is not recommended. Under normal conditions, the use of
premium gasoline will not provide a benefit over high
quality regular and mid-grade gasolines, and in some
circumstances may result in poorer performance."
Unless you have an aftermarket tune, 87 or 89 will work, but 89 is recommended.

what is the warranty on the 07 hemi? were they doing the 100k powertrain warranty in 07?
3/36 but I got the 7/70 and added 15k miles so I technically have the 7/85 .. if anything happens it's a $100 deductible on limited warranty work and I get a rental while it's in the shop.

Thanks for the link.. I haven't read my manual since I acquired my Jeep and thought is was specifically 87... I'll use 89 now, thanks!
