Good question! It all depends....hopefully within the next 30 days or so.

I am hoping that SRT8 production actually does start on July 18th and that there are no delays that develop between now and then.

Cool, so the 18th starts the first day of actual production! Good info. Ive always been curious to get an inside look at the specific supply chains of certain companies and Jeep is the main one! Love to see how/when they get their materials in and also the numbers and production rates they have slotted! How many would they make in a day? Where are the motors being assembled and brought in from, the trannies? Is the NAG1 still straight off the boat from Benz in GErmany or are they manufacturing them in the US? Lots of questions Id love to ask and have answered one day.

As from what Ive seen/heard, I know its production is supposed to be similar to that of the old WK SRT, about 3k per year for first three years and then down to around 1k for two years or so. Hopefully it will make a 5 year run with moderate changes throughout its lifetime! We shall see I guess :rolleyes:

I honestly believe they will build as many as they get orders for, just like they do for all the other current SRT vehicles. I'm sure there's a cap but I'm betting Chrysler wants to milk this cow for as much as they can and isn't about to leave anything on the table.

I was under the impression that SRT vehicles have always been a limited run type of production....therefore the low number produced.....or is it there is a low demand therefore the limited number produced?????

I keep hearing this from you and others yet once production leveled out on the WK SRT8 I could find one in stock at multiple dealerships within 100 miles of my house, most at a discount.

I believe it's really more of an internal target volume than a "limited production". They have to do this to plan out their logistics for the specialty parts (not shared with other models) that are on the SRT. It's a lot harder for them to expand production than on the regular WK2's which share 90% of their parts.

It's a delicate balance between building too many and flooding the market and building too few to fulfill the demand. Trust me, Chrysler doesn't make anything extra if the under build and the street price goes up so they have no incentive to limit supply but they certainly do not want to be left with expensive parts at the end of the production run or build vehicles none of the dealers want.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid most dealers want to give you when they attempt to extract "Over MSRP" premiums because it's a "Limited Production".

Just compared to the total number of other vehicles out there. First you have to eliminate all the people that want Mini-vans. Then eliminate all the people that want sedans. Next eliminate all the people that want good gas mileage. Eliminate all the people that can't afford it. Eliminate all the people that want Japan or German vehicles. Eliminate most of the people that want small SUVs, or large SUVs. Eliminate people that like other basic engine mid-size SUVs. Eliminate all the people that want the other Grand Cherokee models because of there off-road capabilities.

'06'-'10 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8s use to be available on the lots around where I live. It's not like they were bought immediately.

That's all I'm saying.

Yes, you might have been able to find ONE in stock at multiple dealerships, but no dealerships ever had their lots full of them. The numbers speak for themselves, on average during the 5-year run of the 1st generation each state only received 5 vehicles per month.

Production on the Jeep is limited, due to many factors - one being the capacity of the engine plant. Most of the capacity is used up by other models that are not limited production - like the Challenger and Chrysler 300.

Why would it sit in the garage for the winter? It's an AWD vehicle with a Snow mode on the traction control. Just put a proper set of winter tires on it and you're good to go if you live in a harsh winter area or order it with the standard 4 season tires if you don't.

It makes no difference what brand of car it is to me. In fact, considering my wife drives a 2010 Grand Cherokee and I have this as my winter vehicle

Snow Mode - Provides the most conservative dynamic mode, so the vehicle will safely stay in-line in winter weather conditions.

I have my VON and will now wait for the VIN. I waited for Red so there will be some Silvers, Blacks and Grays ahead of me in the order queue. This is my second Jeep SRT8. My first one was delivered in January 2006. Milous tracked the VIN and determined that, excluding prototypes, test mules and those reserved for Chrysler big shots, it was the first sold in PA and the 12th or 13th in all of North America. A bit of a collectors item so I'm keeping it.

I also have my control number for affiliate pricing, but I don't have a strong feeling that Chrysler and the dealer will include SRTs in the program, especially since ours are 2012 model year and the current program is for 2011 model year. What do you guys think will happen?

Honestly, it's not looking good for Affiliate pricing on the 2012 SRT's. If I were you I would get something in writing that they will sell you the SRT for Invoice if Affiliate isn't honored.

The Affiliate thing will probably put me in the position of not getting one in 2012 unless my dealer feels like doing me a favor (yeah, right :lol: ) With the hit I'll take on my 2011 Overland I need to get close to Invoice to make the deal work for my accountant (wife).

Why not just make the snow mode reduce the horsepower by half to accommodate?

I agree with this. Even if they offer Affiliate on it, I'm going to start by trying to negotiate for far more below invoice. I don't really care one way or the other, I'm really good at negotating and I'll get it done. Now, if Jeep would just hurry up and offer it in the color I want.

Come on, think about it, how can a dealer stay in business if he's selling you a car for less than he paid unless that loss is being covered by some backend payment. Sure, there's holdback (which they get) and advertising co-op (which they might get) but that's less than 5% of invoice so they have to get additional incentives to do those kinds of deals and there aren't likely to be any incentives on SRT's, ever!

I've been wondering the same thing about ordering.. I went to go order today and the dealer said that Chrysler Affiliate Pricing isn't being offered and they would want to charge MSRP for it.

I'd love to pre-order early but I feel like if I do that without knowing the price that the dealer will just stick to MSRP. If they figure i've already got my order in and have been waiting for it they are going to think they can charge whatever they want.

yup, that's what I'll do... will probably find a different dealer though. This dealer also told me that the 2012 was still a concept and not available for ordering, until they talked to 5 different people and eventually someone knew it could be ordered... :rolleyes:

Yes, opened first, but there is a Canadian allocation. I'm hearing that because of the US demand that the accepted Canadian orders have been moved to be behind the US orders.

No, I had my VIN June 21st and am not even D1 (like almost all of us aren't).

He indicated first shipments were 7/29 not 7/25 like posted, but he could be wrong, or there could be multiple first shipments, who knows. All he knows is 2 are coming to the dealer on the 29th arriving the 1st week of August, and then the others including mine will be there a week later arriving the 2nd or 3rd week of August probably. I'm not sure if he is reading some kind of ship date or what - is that info even visible to him?

So if we get our VINs tomorrow, when is pricing officially announced?? Tomorrow???? :D

there has to be, it must be something you cannot see that is only in their scheduling program. Dealer code, geography, dealer rating, options...something, something of this level cannot be random.

I haven't really figured out the reason/meaning for the PR assignments. I currently show ~210 vehicles in "PR" and ~70 in D1.

That same thing happened to me and I did not order the tow package. I was in BX up until this past week. Then I looked again and it went back to BG. But I'm told with this being a new dealership they should be getting one, let's hope our dealerships will be receiving the Jeeps!

Not sure if I read this correctly, did the dealer say they have had two SRT-8's that had VINs assigned in the beginning of June? If that is what they told you then you might want to ask them to fax you the most recent printout of your order. I had not heard of any vehicles being assigned VINs in the beginning of June, order banks didn't open for the US until sometime around the 8th (I might be off by a day or two but I think you get the point).

Milous can sometimes find info on the order with the von#......but its definite with the vin. He can add you right away with the von...but we really need the vin to track it. Maybe the dealer is holding out on you or just too lazy to get it for you....if that is the correct...milous can get it.

You need to become atleast a level 3 or higher member. Theres lots of insights, info etc. that is in the tracking forums that you dont get in the regular forums. You can see other Jeeps, how they are scheduled, built, time frames etc. that is NOT available ANYWHERE ELSE! Level 4 and higher gets a custom made build sheet made exclusively for your Jeeps. No generic carbon copy in unreadable format like what Jeeps sends out.
