Thinking of buying a SRT8

I got my wife the 2011 JGC overland 5.7 and love it. I was thinking of getting myself a SRT8! I would wait for the new one but I feel it's going to be out of my price range. With that said which year is the best? What are common problems with them? Do you prefer one year over another,and why? Sorry for all the ?'s. I read thru most of the general posts and really didn't find the answers I was looking for.

If I was in need of another auto, I would buy the SRT. Prices are damn good.

08 and Up gets the Dark interior
08 and Up gets the myGig HU
07 and Up rear cam
08 and Up optional Projector headlights

mid year 08 they came with red brembos/ black earleir . or maybe other way around but it switcvhed

Well Rob pretty much summed up the major differences. It's more personal preference on what's important to you. I bought an 08 because I absolutely wanted the black interior not the light grey. I also wanted the HID lights and the MYgig radio. Are you looking to mod it? Looking to buy one modded? What price range? Want one still under warranty? Looking for a particular color? Like I said ..what's important to you? Not sure if there's really any common problems or not, everyone I know with one has it modded to various degrees and ends up with different issues not common issues. My Jeep for instance is on rear number 3. Good luck with your decision. :)


And Rob....mine's a very early 08 and has the black Brembos, your so smart! :D

I will try to find one stock as possible. Warranty is not a concern. I love almost every color. Dark interior tho is a must. Only mods would be exhaust and CAI.

I think an original 2006 in Inferno red or a 2010 Inferno red. best color.

Inferno is nice. I gave a thumbs up to a 09 or 10 Inferno (had db wheels) the other day on the West Side Highway. Looked so bad ass cruising side by side.

Not going to lie I do regret not getting it sometimes. lol

edit- btw the 08+ interior is not actually black- its dark slate gray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excuse the !!! but i cant stand it when people call it black. its clearly not. but ok :sleepy::sleepy:

I have a 2007 Red Rock with 7000 miles in perfect condition. Im original owner. I replaced the exhaust to Billy Boat and have mopar cold air intake painted red with ghost flames. Only other mod is predator with a tune. Never raced or beat on. I have upgraded rotors to R1 and swapped out to original red calipers. I replaced factory nav to Kenwood dnx9960 which is the best on the market. I also added a pager alarm with a 2 mile radius and can be upgraded to work on you phone with a module. I also have car cover for it and alot of little extras. Anybody here who knows me here will tell you how i baby it. Reason selling i dont have time to drive as you can see by milage. It also has hid lights and fogs and tinted very lightly tailights. Waxed and washed more than driven..$32,000

Do it! I would drive the Wk2 SRT8 before deciding what to buy.

I would say if you "really" want a WK SRT8, a modern blue is the rarest and fastest. Mine will be for sale soon, to make room for the Wk2 SRT8 in the garage.

MY 2009 had the most options available (i.e. TV), the 2009 & 2010 have available Kicker audio and performance guages not available on other MY's.

All of the MY's have the "is this really a Jeep" acceleration.

Get an early 2008 because you get the better, darker interior and a black clear coat paint job instead of brilliant black that looks brilliantly gray in the sun. LOL. Black clear coat, or PX8 was discontinued halfway through that production year.

If you can afford the gas, it really doesn't matter what color you get. Just buy the damn thing! :lol:

FWIW, the underpinnings are the same through all years.
