Many of you know that the engine in my old 5.9 is down right now, and needs to be rebuilt/repaired. I've decided that I'm simply going to move forward with my project, and build the old girl up instead of keeping this one stock and then modding the second one I intend to acquire in the future. Now all I need to do is save the $$$ to move forward with getting this rolling!
When last home I spent a large portion of time getting to know the gentleman who's going to do my build (Stan Mizell, Jacksonville, FL), and bouncing ideas off of him for the straight-line performance I seek, and came away very excited with the future prospect of my Niner resurrected far more powerful and stronger than before. In a nutshell, this is what it looks like on paper. Stan assures me this will easily develop the power I seek in the 425-450 bhp range, which I'm sure will be plenty enough for my wants and needs. Now I'm gonna either have to find a damn 6.7L tailgate emblem or, debadge my Jeep, which does not interest me in the least. Anyway, here's the basic (proposed) build sheet for now......
-Stroked from 360 CID to 408 CID.
-Balanced and blueprinted.
-Cam with a 226/234 or possibly even a 258/268 profile along with the stiffer springs and hardware, etc.
-Aluminum Heads.
-Complete forged rotating assembly.
-1.6 Roller rockers.
-Plate honing.
-Line honing.
-Hardened racing push rods.
-Coated Headers and full, "X" dual exhaust system.
-CAI.
-APS Precision Custom 46RE or Martin Saine Transmission and Stall Converter.
-SCT Tune after mods.
I'm sure I forgot to mention something here or there but man, oh man I cannot wait!
