WJ Grand Cherokee Reliability - Help Us Provide Better Info

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that made the differences between cars clearer. So a few years ago I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age.

This forum has been helping me get more owners involved with the WK and WK2, for which I'm very grateful. We've been providing stats for the WJ as well, but the sample sizes have been small. Even a few more participants would be very helpful.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, following the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Grand Cherokee, for free. I'll share results for the WJ in this thread after each update.

We have updated results for the Grand Cherokee to include owner experiences through June 30, 2011. Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2004: 64, better than average, small sample size

2002: 99, about average, very small sample size

2000: 129, about average, very small sample size

We'll have further updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

We have updated our reliability stats for the Grand Cherokee (on our redesigned site) to include owner experiences through September 30, 2011. Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2004: 72, better than average, small sample size

2002: 153, worse than average, very small sample size

2000: 100, about average, very small sample size

Much of the variation from year to year is likely due to the small sample sizes.
