check out "henson motors" on ebay, he has NGKs (get stock equiv) they will last longer then stockers and are a better made. and this guy runs a great deal on them. and his "best offer" prices are pretty low to. ive bought a few things from him now including plugs (ngk vpowers). he is an awesome dealer, and has fast shipping. i found him when i found my over the top spark plug wire removal kit

the OEM plugs are like $1.25 each......

I've lost count of the number of threads I've read about problems with non-OEM spark plugs, especially the 4.7 and HEMI engines. For my 4.7 they are $14 at NAPA, and I change them every 20-30k.
So when you put expensive platinum plugs in your rig and you can't figure out why it runs like sh*t you were warned...:)
ehh, while we're on the topic (I think we can conclude that your best bet is to go with OEM replacements).. how difficult is it to replace the plugs yourself? Any special tools or skills required?

its easy. the hardest ones for me were by the fuse boxes, u just need to slide the extension in first then attach the wrench, no biggie. just make sure you have a small selection of extensions,

Well that's good news... now how do I accomplish --> 0.045 gap, tighten to 13 ft. lbs...?
keep in mind I am a noob :D

get a spark plug gap tool, i believe they are about $5 at auto zone. 13 ft lbs isnt much, you could buy a torque wrench, or just snug them in, then give them another bump. you dont need to force them, you could damage the head. but also make sure when you are first putting them in you just spin the extension with your fingers just to make sure you thread them correctly. once they seat and you know its not cross threaded use the wrench

its not a bad idea to have the torque wrench. i use it on stuff like suspension parts and such, its good to make sure you get that stuff tight. put it also good for stuff like plugs so you dont make them too tight.

I called the dealer...they will sell you champion 439 plugs...they wanted 3.99 ea for them...i bought the same plugs at orilies auto and paid 1.99 ea. calls for .040 gap and 20 lbs of torque.

I just replaced my plugs with stock type Champions. After 57,000 miles the gap on the old ones was almost .060! I should get better mileage now. It wasn't a hard job, the rear pass. one is a pain but not that bad. Get the original plugs and do it!

So do I need to replace the wires too? and why the difference in gap?

There are no wires on the 4.7 and 3.7 but the Hemi does have wires.
The gap opened from .040 to .060 because of erosion of the electrode. I was almost double the recommended mileage to change them.

I have alot to learn. My Jeep is at 47 k and my dealer wants to do a tune up for the low low cost of 200 bucks. but it looks like all they are going to do is spark plugs from the right up they gave me. Also a windshield washer nozzle is broken and they want 135.00 to fix that. Does anyone know what else the 47k tune up includes and if its worth the 200 buck.
ohh yea they also want to clean my fuel system, what does that do ?

dude 200 bucks for a tune up and spark plugs isnt that bad from a dealership... i got a quote of about 400 bucks from my stealership to change out the plugs alone.

I have a buddy who's a Chrystler mechanic. I can confirm the $200 tune-up is ONLY spark plugs. I'm going to do mine myself. I'm sure there are write-ups for all types on here. I cant help much with the nozzle, but I personally wouldn't do the "tune-up". I'd also stay away from any suggested "chassis lube's":thumbsup:
