my friend just bought a WK. He has 20" rims and wants run Nitto Dune Grapplers with like a 2.5" lift or something like that. the truck will basically be used for street and light beach.

anyone have any thoughts on the suspension set up?

Friends don't let friends put 20" rims on a lifted Jeep.

But if it's only for "street" use and not off-road, then I think it would be cool. 20's + meaty tires + a lift = a bad ass WK. We're still waiting for someone to do this!!

I guess I'm just old school. 18s are cool. 20s are jumping the shark. 20s on a lifted Jeep is blasphemy.

kind of off from the suspension but Nitto offroad tires are over rated and priced. ive seen all there offroad tires in action and they perform poorly. save the money and buy a different tire.

i agree - but that's not a battle i'm ganna win w/ this guy. I'm just trying to do my best from keeping away form low-pro street tires.
the dune grapplers come in:
• 285/50R20 116T - overall diameter = 31.30
• LT285/55R20 E 122R - overall diameter = 32.36
• LT305/55R20 E 121R - overall diameter = 33.07

anyone know if any of these will fit w/ a 2.5" lift? Remember he doesn't really need room for articulation.

any thoughts, suggestions, advice and disses welcome and appreciated :)

thanks

To my eye, the bigger the tire and more lift you have, the smaller the wheel looks. So to me, I reckon it'd look tough as with a 20" wheel, 4" lift, and biggest tire you can fit.
FARKIN TOUGH I SAY! lol

he's been in mine w/ the 4" and its too much for him.

I'm guess the most he can squeeze on there w/ a 2.5" lift is the
285/50R20 116T - overall diameter = 31.30

what are you guys that have a 2.5" running for tires?

I would say go with a OME kit and the 31.30 tires

he can fit a 33.. like a 275/60 R20 with a 2.5" lift. Right Acid?

He can but it will look goofy, i personally like more wheel well than the look of a over stuffed tire. i wouldn't go over a 32'' IMO

so he could go LT285/55R20 E 122R - overall diameter = 32.36

anyone knwo what "E 122R" means as apposed to "116T" ??

I run 32's with an RK lift. Slight rub ad 3/4 turn

what rubs? that pinch weld in the back of the wheel well or did you trim that?

JETLIFE

Yes, that's where it rubs, But no so much on the pinch, more the plastic inner liner.

At full lock you don't rub at all, just at 3/4

i dont understand that whole spot there

the inner wheel well pushes in in that 1 spot and it really limits the amount of space in the well.

i could fit a 34 or even a 35 on my truck if it not for that

I'm gonna be going with the RR 2.25" lift here shortly... already have the Bilstein's front and rear. I'm picking up my sahara 18's with 255/70/18's (32") dueler a/t's on them next weekend. Also gotta get the spidertrax spacers.

imo i would go with the 32 inch. and can you take out that inner liner or trim it up a little maybe mod it a little some how?

hey Moneen, i was looking at your setup, because im thinking of going with 20" SRT reps and 32" tires.

I was playing with a tire calculator and it says the diameter of the tires on your 22's is 30"?? is that true? they look way bigger.

Edit: did some more reading... i didnt think in a million years you were removing the lift every summer... kick ass man! thats pimp!

Yup, I removed the lift this summer. It's a pretty simple lift kit, so it's no big deal to remove it.
My Toyos are 30.3" which would look stupid if I left the lift in, So I got some 255/75/17 BFG M/T's for my stock chrome clads.

Next set of tires will be 305/40/22 Terra Graplers, Then I can keep it lifted year round!
