My wife and I drove an hour and a half yesterday to test drive one in Illinois. It was a loaded black on black one; #2 off the assembly line. We had a BLAST. All of the positive things that have been said in reviews are absolutely right. The outdated head unit stuck out like a sore thumb in the interior. The seats were comfy as hell. The trunk had a full size spare, and the back end came equipped with the towing package with quick release cover.

We also drove the Challenger SRT8 and went through the 300 SRT8... I can't say that the Grand Cherokee is truly worth $15,000-$20,000 more than those sweet beasts.

To sum up: The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 was VERY nice, but still not $62,000 nice in my book.

I also think that the exhaust note was a bit on the "tame" side.

what about the feel of the suspension? Any spirited driving?

With the limited driving I did, all I can say is that the ride was quite smooth, the tires were VERY sticky, and I did have a chance to put the pedal to the floor for a short distance and then mash on the brakes. Superb on both ends. Higher speed twists and turns were fun; I had total control with everything I did.

Did you try out the different driving modes?

I did, but didn't notice much of a difference due to the limited space and scope of the road course.

You mentioned that the one you drove had a full size spare in the trunk. So the new SRT8's are coming with a full size spare even though they are supposed to have run flat tires?

I was told "it's the only SRT8 that comes with a full size spare".

Was this from inside or outside the Jeep?
I noticed a much quieter ride in the WK2 vs the WK. (NON-SRT8 WK2)
I get to find out a week from Wednesday at the Jeep Garage sponsored event in MA.
Can't wait. Hopefully, they'll take me for a spirited run, since I heard you can't drive them on public streets. We'll have a small course set up, but no justice to the handling or ability of the cars.

Drove the WK2 SRT last night..... WOW......

I don't know what a WK1 feels like, but the WK2 is just awesome......

Tight overall feel, nice contoured seat, good acceleration and unbelievable brakes

I can't wait to get mine.....

Great Vehicle. A good chunk of change, but you get alot for your money. The new head unit with updated tranny will complete the package for me.

I'm impressed.
