So my buddy's SRT8 is now 2 wheel drive. He hit a telephone ple 2 weeks ago. He brought it in the shop they fixed all the body damage but didnt realize anything else was broken. My buddy didnt even know it was broke until he tried to launch from a red light and his rear tires just spun. Anyone know what would cause the issue?

Drive shaft to the transfer case? Transfer case is screwed because of all the crazy things you guys do? Tell him to take it to the dealership or back to the shop.

When you start an SRT8 the transfer case puts in in AWD. When you turn it off it disengages. I am thinking that the motor or realy has burned up in the Transfercase.

it could be a fuse or the t.c motor or the whole transfer case

The Transfer case never fully dis-engages, many have tried the 2WD mod and almost all have toasted their TC...It's broken somewhere from the TC up to the front Diff, check the electronics too.

I'd tell him to fix it asap before he has no drive train left!

I've never understood burnouts...all that power going up in smoke rather than being put down to the ground.

You want grip not slip

I agree with Escape. A lot of people have tried the unplugged-2WD mod only to end up damaging something mechanical or electrical.

I'd suggest to him to get it to the shop ASAP.

If you want to run these Jeeps in 2wd "safely", pull the Transfer Case actuator motor. 5 minute job.

Something got knocked out of wack. He needs to go back to the shop that fixed it AND make sure insurance co is involved. They need to know what was overlooked immediately or else they'll say it wasn't a part of the accident.
