Hello everyone, I am just joining this site now because I don't know what to do anymore. My jeep (1994 V8 5.2L ZJ) has been experiencing this problem for about 4 weeks now and i still cant find what is causing it. When I accelerate the jeep at medium or high acceleration, it will die after about 3 seconds or so then if i let off the pedal quick enough, it comes back on otherwise it just stalls out and i have to start it back up. It happens more in the morning and through-out the day but not much at night. Other times, I could be going at about 45 or 50mph and it will do a quick sputter or jump and almost stall but it doesnt. Anyways, can anyone give me any ideas? could it be the crank sensor, MAP sensor, or?? I have replaced the Idle air control valve and the fuel pump and fuel filter. And i got no codes with the scanner. I just want to fix it already :( PLEASE HELP ME GUYS. the other forum i was apart of totally ignored my problem :/

It could be many things... One of my first thoughts is fuel starvation. How is your fuel pressure?

My fuel pressure is good. the normal is 31 and max is around 40 which is what my service book says is correct. It doesnt seem like a fuel problem though because if it were fuel, I think it would kind of sputter a little and die roughly. what I am expiriencing is complete just shut down in less than a second. On and driving at 1500 or so RPM to sudden drop to 0 RPM off when it stalls. and when it does its pausing thing, it drops to zero, then jumps back up to regular RPM if I let off the pedal quick enough. I have a few friends and family that believe it could be the MAP sensor so I'm thinking of getting a new one of those.

With the vehicle running grab the black pcm connector (closest to the motor) and give it a gentle jiggle. If this induces your issue inspect the connector for a dirty or damaged pin... But its likely a loose internal connection in the pcm... I have seen this a number of times on the zj as recently as last week.

Well Friday night I changed the MAP sensor and completely cleaned my throttle body and no more problem. I drove 140 miles yesterday and not one stall so it must be ok now. thanks for the help. and i did try that trick with the PCM a week ago but it didnt work lol

Hi Guy's this has been helpful for me also experiencing the same thing in my sons ZG. I have ordered an new TPS as this also seems a likely problem area and i am thinking maybe change the MAP sensor also.
