The SRT Tour came to my town today, and I was able to see the 2012 Black GC SRT8 that they are traveling with. Pictures don't do it justice, it is an Awesome looking ride. Even the wheels, I haven't liked them since I first saw them in pictures, but seeing them clean and in person, they look nice. I was able to sit in it and it feels tight. I was impressed with how soft the leather in the seats are. If you haven't seen one in person yet, I believe you will be impressed when you do.

I went back and edited my post, and added a few pictures. My cell phone was all I had with me, so, the picture quality could be better.

Yes, the interior is as nice as the reports have indicated. As I mentioned in my original post, I was impressed with how soft the leather was on the seats.

This was the Dulles meet?

I was going to drive 1.5hrs down this afternoon to see it and drive it, considering there were no test drives I am glad I didn't. Nice pics though.

Thanks for the pics and the feedback!! I think you're the 3rd or 4th person to have mentioned that seeing the jeep in person seems to have changed your perception.

For me, the WK SRT8 has always been hit or miss in pictures, but mean and aggressive in person. I figured the WK2 would be similar. Thanks again!

Despite the legit debate, I'm convinced that upon seeing and driving this vehicle, that I will want one.

Thankfully, we will be out of town when the SRT8 tour comes to Denver later this month. Phew.

Lol! It is very true. I love my seats in My Jeep but when I sat in the new ones I let out a "wow" by accident. Lol. Its so nice sitting in the vehicle and seeing it. I long for road trips listening to that HK sound system. It is candy for my ears.

I'm sure they aren't doing the Tour to show off Gas mileage. So yes. If you want to hate the new Jeep SRT8. Whatever you do.....DONT DRIVE IN ONE!!!!!!! :D

Well, it took all of a 5 minute lot inspection and 5 mile test drive to buy the 2011 WK2 over any and all other contenders. I'm hosed.

Ive heard magaizine reviewers call it the BEST interior they have ever seen......

I saw it too and it is awesome. The seats are amazing...they have extra bolstering (especially in the mid back area) compared to the overland wk2 you just feel more welded into the seat. And, the suede gives it a real nice "soft" feel. The steering wheel is a work of art with leather and perforated leather and the flat bottom. The paddle shifters are well done as well.

The carbon fiber I didnt think would do much, but it does it really makes that interior stand out. It doesnt seem as wide as the wood ones (thought they are the same), just really really looks good.

As the OP states, the wheels in pics don't look as great as when you see them in person, they are really nice. They have a really nice effect to them thats hard to describe.

The sound system is awesome. I thought it couldnt be much better than the regular - it is!! At low volumes it sounds just as good as high.

The engine sounds real good to although I didnt hear it driving, just sitting and accelerating it. At idle it is quieter than I thought it would be. It sounds great though it is not loud.

The sculpted hood is just kick a$$ !! you can really feel the heat coming out of it.

The front air dam in pics to me looked like it was going to be "too big and ugly" but its not...in the flesh it looks awesome.

The back too is killer. The trumpet exhaust looks real good unless you like look real close and see the skinnier tail pipe behind the scense, but still overall great look.

In the end the 2 things I thought really differed than in pics were the wheels and front air damn...much better 9in the flesh.

I cant wait till mine comes!!

I may not have the best descriptions but wanted to give my humble opinion on what I saw.

Darn, that thing IS nice. The performance is only one part of the picture - but the appearance is just freakin' awesome!

Although I've SWORN that I wouldn't buy one at that price, I'm not so sure any more. Maybe I delay my purchase even further (MY2015) to get that beast after all. Maybe a longer wait convinces myself that I truly deserve a car that expensive..

Well, only time will tell. However, I'm starting to show first signs of an SRT8-addiction.

Shame on you, Jeep!:slapfight::lol:

The SRT Tour is still in my town, but at a different location, so I went again today (couldn't resist seeing the GC SRT8 again), this time I took my girlfriend and some of her family with me. Her brother has a pristine 09 GC SRT8 which he brought to the show. Without him hearing what I previously said, "pictures don't do it justice", he said the exact same thing. I added a few more pics to my original post.

So after the new redesign..... Chryco STILL can get a set of brakes right?!?! Love the "typical brake" sounds like the WK1. Sad. I would have thought the new brake system would have been cured of that old sound.

It's slooooooowly growing on me. I've always liked the front and interior but the ass end is just wrong to me. One thing I hate about the WK2 is the eye for the CC. Just looks goofy IMO. First time I've seen the black and like always...... it's my favorite color. The Silver turned me off when I saw it in Ohio...... but the black..... nice.

i dont see why everyone is complaining about the back....When I had my 08 I always thought the back looked just like the normal GC except for the center exhaust. Which if you ask me wasnt always that noticeable or such a big difference. At least the 12 has a black exhaust which should be kind of cool/unique... but I dont think either the wk1 or wk2 had much of a special look to them compared to the non SRT models.

Well if you think about it like this.. The 01-04 WJ's Headlights and tail lights for example.

WK1 still continues the WJ traditional tail lights but more angular.. but they completely revamped the headlights more into (IMO Wrangler headlights).. but for the WK2 they went back to the WJ for the headlights(slimmed them down, and made em pretty-ier ;-P) and did a whole new tail light/backside.. Let's just be happy Jeep isn't like Ford and changing the car every year into something completely different.. need I mention the real life hot wheel? http://www.autospectator.com/cars/files/images/2012-Ford-Edge-014.jpg *I'm assuming you guys/gals have seen the 2012 one.. it's a hot wheel car turned reality! *

Scott..... I've never said I hated the truck, I just said I wouldn't buy one. I've always liked the interior. The silver I saw in person was just ugly to me. The black looks much better. I damn sure wouldn't buy one brand new either. I've bought enough brand new vehicles and I'll never do it again. You lose way too much. Buying a new 2012 I think is going to cause people to take a total bath. I just don't see it holding a value vs. what people will be paying for it. I see people IMO losing $15K driving it off the lot. But hey... that's just my opinion. :D

Don't say never. I'm sure if you found the right deal for new, you would be smart about it.
I bought mine new in Nov 09. I think I could get 38k easy and I paid 41k.. not too bad for new.

$15K.....NO WAY! This is a much better and higher quality vehicle than the wk1 SRT and it didnt lose its value like that. Also...the resale values of the 2011 WK2's has been excellent if thats any indication. Also....ChryCo hasnt had to offer any incentives, $10K off to move these vehicles. Also....the market will NEVER be flooded with 2012 SRT Jeeps to lower the value.

How is it better and higher quality?

Also, on resale WK2, KBB has private party price of a 2011 Overland Hemi at $36,000 -- this is a vehicle that had an MSRP of $45k+ and a price paid of $41k+. Trade in price is obviously worse than that even.

Also, Scott, the WK1 SRT "didn't lose its value like that" cause it was priced fairly from the beginning.

Its obvious just by the price increase that the materials and parts are better quality. Manufacturers dont have a dart board to randomly create the price. The WK1 had a shiesty interior. My door panels cracked within 5 months of owning it and I was NOT pleased. All sorts of thin plastic crap inside the WK1. Im glad they redesigned the WK2's interior, my 2011 Overland is amazing! I can literally tell you the difference is night and day quality wise. So yeah, thats my rant.

Absolutely agree with you Scott. Glad they hiked the price on the WK2 and made this beast a quality truck. I woulda paid $60K for a WK1 that had some better, higher quality materials. BOOM! I want my WK2 Santa

Does not matter, Scott. An overpriced vehicle will lose more value than a vehicle priced fairly. How do you not get that simple fact???

And, a Jeep/Chrysler vehicle....is still a Jeep/Chrysler vehicle regardless of how you price it.

For my, losing value isn't as much of an issue. I keep my cars for at least 6-8 years. I don't care about depreciation if I'm keeping it for a long time. The only reason I'm considering keeping my order on this greedily overpriced SRT is because it really looks like it's going to be an awesome car, and has every feature I could possibly want far into the future. My "top of the line" 04 WRX doesn't have any features close to what are in cars built today, and I'm still happy with it. (Actually, it makes me wonder if I even need any of the bells and whistles)

+1 I picked my Mom up when she was getting tires on her Mercedes GL450 and she complimented how nice the interior of my WK1 SRT8 was. I know it wasn't the best quality but I had 0 issues with rattles or any problems with the interior, I can't say the same about my WK2 Overland unfortunately.

^Look forward to hearing your impressions.

My 4 yr old boy thinks the entrance ramp stoplights to I-25 are drag strips. Wonder where he got that idea? Yesterday he yelled out "bu-bye grandma!" as we smoked a coupe de ville.
