who knows, not everything is worth a separate thread/section.
sometimes you just want to talk about anything SRT8- ya know. or at least i do.
(not everything pertains to a Garage area settings- IMO)
so i thought, hey maybe. who knows..

Talk to me about a 180* t-stat. Is it just a drop in and forget about it or do I need to change some settings in my PCM?

if you change something like the temp settings- def contact your tuner for a revision of your tune.
speaking about cooler temps- 55* today- perfect for the JEEP SRT8!!
she loves cool weather-:D

I am running 100% stock right now. Well, until this weekend but only switching out the spark plugs to NGK's laser platinum and a drop in K&N air filter. No modified tune at this point.
Do you think I would need to switch my stock tune because of the t-stat or just if I was running richer?

honestly im no expert - but if your asking me specifically...
im going to step back a year or so from my own personal experience on just the "tune" aspect..
first 3 months i didnt have a Custom "vendor" tune.... BOY WAS I MISSING OUT!!!
--no seriously. immediately after the tune- the beast was THAT MUCH BETTER, FASTER,ETC. i was completely beyond belief- a simple tune from "the TOONA" made such a difference. especially 1st and 2nd gear- lightning!
basically what im trying to get at is a stock SRT8 is daym fast but just wait until you wake her up some more with a tune. TRUST ME!
soo, if youre asking me then yes, i would get a custom tune and def tell him about the mods youve done, even if its a just a T-stat,CAI, etc. i know i would. but thats just if your asking me.

Thanks for your help. I do not plan on going too crazy with it but a simple tune is on the list.

You for sure need a tune to realize the benefits of a 180* T-stat. You can buy a Diablo Predator and go through the motions that way, but I would recommend the Trinity. If you want to perfect a tune, the Trinity is so much better for data logging. Definitely use Johan (Diablotoona) as he is great with our rigs. You will poop your pants the first time you drive it after Tooning!!!

the new fluids for the rear axle i would like to do myself since ive done it on my XJ, ZJ once before... so removing the cover would be another step in the process. the bonus would be to see the gears inside for any damage or unsual wear. u wouldnt believe my XJs internals! boy was that a lesson and a half. i learned soo much from that lil tank! i still have her btw:D shes got 135K --- Straight 6 baby! never fails. just change the fluids and they last forever.;)

Well this past weekend's trip worked out good. Averaged 16.8 MPG from Everett WA to Seaside OR and back.
SRTILL8
09-27-2011, 08:57 AM
good to hear^^
i averaged 14.3 on my trip to PA recently- and that was with the heavy foot* deployed. haha
on another note- my SRT8 is in pieces. -- soo much going on that i feel i dont know which to tackle before 1st and goal.
and it didnt help that i removed the radio and center dash etc--- that made me dig into more mods and i left a couple players sitting on the sidelines...
for real though, i got things started and then i would move on to something else mid-stream cause i thought of something else while doing another mod.
i got serious ADHD. ;)

very true. however the mod list at least for me- always gets ROID power and takes off with a corked bat ;) then out of no where 3rd base is stolen, then all hell breaks loose in the dugout.
for me, the more i dig the more i cant leave it alone. great but terrible at the same time.

i hear ya, heres a pic from the back seat. i was trying to shoot (in manual) the red LED conversion on the MyGig and temp controls and heated seats and blue LED indicators for the rear-air the A/C control are blue when pressed on as well. also the heated seats indicators light up in blue when you press them. same as the top parking assist button and aux switch (the one lit up in blue in the photo). the only thing i left red was the when you press the heat button- that lights up in red and not orange anymore.

so i decided to mess around and paint my SRT door sills for both the front doors. after really letting them dry out im kinda diggin the flat look with out the clear....
my plan was to pin-stripe the SRT portion in RED and leave the bullet lines as is(PXR) or taped it off and bring it down to brushed aluminum again for the two/three tone look. or just remove the paint from the SRT alone and leave the rest PXR.(my favored option atm)
either way its the door sill and its not outside the vehicle so the clear isnt absolutely necessary on these. and i really dont want them shinning like everything else in the door jams. if anything ill redo them agin.
i dunoo...

recently this weekend i was pulled over upstate by a city crown vic. naturally my heart rate jumps and im sitting there saying i know i aint doin shiot, so yeah..
cop comes up on the passenger side and my friend sitting shotgun says to me, oh i went to h.s with this cop, youre cool.
the cops pulls me over to talk to my friend in my car...
yeah... talk about a shit scare for nothing...
somehting else- i was driving down i87 yesterday and a red WK1 SRT8 showed up in my rearview mirror. i did a double take in the mirror cause im always checking my mirror every couple seconds for troops.. anyways what caught my eye in the mirror was the red pinstripe SRT logo on the windshield. then i dipped into the right lane to let him pass me but he wasnt passing me and when he did he wasnt pushing left lane speeds so i waited to pass and i did. my bad about that but i was kinda in a rush. hhaha
was nice to travel about 20 miles with ya though. btw nice tinted tails and borla:thumbsup:

Just got rid of my crapyears and got a set of Nitto 420s, What a difference!!
So if there's anybody looking to get same tires in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area)
I paid $1220 (Canadian) for four tires balanced and installed which I think is a fair price since I was quoted for $1700 just for the tires here in Mississauga.

i got tired of the blinding 5k LED dome lights in my jeep recently so i reinstalled the lil metal shields beneath the plastic covers to bring down the brightness. i like it better this way, these days that is.. :D
i also had a problem with my passenger side reverse light for a couple weeks... i never really dived into really trouble shooting the issue until recently and i discovered one of my clip ins had a loose connection so i replaced the specific clip and im back in action baby ;)
