whatever polish and wax you use on your paint is fine for chrome

Real chrome; basically any decent metal polish. I use Meguair's Gold Class Metal Restorer and Autosol (not sure if that's available in the US?).

Plastic and lacquered chrome; As Scott says, paintwork safe products.

You can tell if its real or not by rubbing some metal polish on it (in a discreet area), if it turns black you're buffing metal. If not, its been clear-coated so STOP! :D

Oh, glass cleaner works great on either too....

There are lots of good products out there. I have always gotten the deepest shine and the most cleaning power from theP21S Finish Restorer - 75 ml (http://www.detailedimage.com/P21S-M14/Finish-Restorer-P85/75-ml-S1/). It's a safe and easy to use product that is my "go to" choice for clear coated and bare metals.

I forgot to mention another great product which is the P21S Metal Polishing Soap (http://www.detailedimage.com/P21S-M14/Metal-Polishing-Soap-P84/105-oz-S1/).It comes with a really soft sponge applicator and essentially you just get that damp and wipe it across the top of the jar. You get a highly effective cleaner and polish in one step. It cleans, shines and protects the wheels in one step and rinses clean. I admit the protection is limited compared to a quality sealant but the cleaning power is legit. It's a great product for anyone who want to keep their wheels clean and shinny regularly. You can check out other customer reviews on it here (P21S Metal Polishing Soap Review (http://www.detailedimage.com/P21S-M14/Metal-Polishing-Soap-P84/Reviews/)).
