I Did a little messing around today, i got sick om my sub amp over heating underneath my seat so i made a new rack in the open space in the cargo area. I cut out a piece of cardboard to to trace on some half inch MDF. i used some carpet from an older project, i like the design so it works. after i drilled the holes for the two gauge and the sub wires, remote and RCA's. I attached it with velcro, and doesn't move at all. I didn't even think about taking pictures till after i made it but heres the final product. tell me what you think.

Hey, that looks great, very clean how you made that rack behind it. I had that Alpine amp with the 50x4 and its a really good clean amp. From my experience they can take abuse and the heat, wouldnt that fit under the passenger seat if you wanted it out of the way?

I have my amps mounted to the underside of the car, out of the way taking up no room and the air flow is fantastic down there, just sucks when it rains and they keep shorting out.

You mounted your amps on the exterior/underbody?

yah what?

i had it under the seat but it can't breath under there and I want it to be seen. i don't use the back for anything. I am going to build a box that will fit the sub and amp and where the sub is now i will be putting in a tool box that make.

Haha, hell no. I just wrote that for fun. Im not dumb. I made a false cargo floor to hide my amps.

Took out the stock cargo floor and installed framing then carpeted 1/2" MDF.

Now my amps are out of the way, and the JL's never overheat after hours of driving with it turned up.

I was on a car stereo kick before, but now im into getting my srt exhaust put in, so i'll live with my 10W6 in a home made MDF box for now.

Guess im kinda surprised then, my amps are completely enclosed under the floor and never had any issues with overheating. And why would you want your expensive stereo gear seen? I want mine hidden so no one wants to steal it. If you want it to be seen then id look into custom fiberglass work, but having only that alpine and that big sub then wanting a tool box back there too isnt really show off material IMO, J/S. Guess im not seeing what your going for. I dont mean to be ignorant.

Nah, I was just trying to see if anyone would actually think about installing an amp under the car after I said that. Its amazing how many people have no clue about things. If someone installs an amp outside of a car there an idiot in the first place and deserve whatever happens. haha.

I am talking about fiberglassing actually. the box the rack and the tool box will all look one piece. but the amp and sub will be removable for the rare ocasian(SP) i need to fold the back seat down. you'll see what i mean....

Is there anyway you can remove the stock cargo floor, or is it basically sitting on the frame? Was thinking make a false floor, then you can hid your amp and have room for tools. Thats what I have now, removed the stock floor which is basically all plastic extrusions and useless, now I have all that usable space under there where I keep alot of tools and amps.

no its just carpet. i guess i meant tool box as in a place to put my tow straps and hooks and stuff nothing huge. you wouldn't notice it unless i told you it was there. I have thought about making a false floor but i feel like it would look funny raised up 2.5 inches to hide the amp there because my plastics don't go very high up. I don't mind any of it being seen really i anchor everything down really well it would take a grinder to get it out quick. if they could even get it into the stop to cut the bolts out.

Where you put your amp is perfect. It looks great there. I dont think you have to worry about replacing it anywhere else. Again, you did a great job on it.
