Hello guys well, I have been dead set lately on acquiring Gloss Black SRT repros for the future. But I have been really paranoid about getting them stolen. Everytime I mention wheels locks, I get the response it only slows them down :(. So basically I have a few questions, should I risk it and stick to my oringinal plan and get Gloss Black SRT repros?

My other choices, my Jeep currently has this wheel Silverblade #1: http://www.wjjeeps.com/wheel_2_silverbl.jpg

Is it possible to powdercoat? The centercaps are plastic so how do I make those black to match then? Only problem is if I do this my front passenger wheel is dmaged (from previous owner ) rash and some weird bubbling wround the centercap.

My second option which I dig but it isn't quite the same as the repros is aquire these Jeep ronin wheels and powedercoat, again is that possible to do and what about the centercap:

LMAO thats gonna be hell if I ever have a flat haha. Seriously I want the reps but dammit Its gonna sucks if they were to get stolen. I mean are wheel locks that useless? I thought they provide some sort of protection?

I put the first option, but instead of replacing the entire rim, just have them refurbished and then powder coat them, the center cap can be powder coated along with the wheel.

Isn't the center caps for our wheels, plastic? I don't even think they can hold up to powder coating.

And yeah I've been looking up some wheel refurbishment places if anything.

LMAO @ Gorilla Glue and a black widow, how the hell would I take either of those off haha. But really whats a good brand of wheel locks haha.

And Dave I'll call you if I get them haha.

in powder coating what they do is electrically charge the paint and the object being painted so that the paint stickes to it. It sounds more intense than it is, so even plastic should hold up in the process.

Are wheel thefts really that common in that area. I've never known anyone who had there shit jacked. Anyways, I'd go black SRT reps all the way.

Check out Adams Black WJ with the black SRT reps...

IMO I think the SRT reps would look great. But won't do any good for Off-Roading ;). Anyway Look at Hannes and look at Adams? You should shoot for them. I'm shooting for them once I get my WK. I have it saved up already I just want to save more so I can put more. I think they wuold look great with you Jeep.

I don't know, I'm actually leaning away from them right now (I just don't want to be paranoid and I want to drive my truck without being afraid lol). My truck is never garage kept and drivin everywhere regardless of weather. Here are some current options

Buy Ronins and then fix one wheel that has rash and powder coat black

or

Buy Rob's Graphite Rogues and buy tires for them. Should I even powder coat those black?

10-05-2009, 09:53 AM
another thing bro...

people arent gonna waste their time... they are 20" rims, not 22's or 24's. they are SRT reps, which arent that highly saught after outside of our little niche.

if you had like 24" Chrome Giovannas or something, then i'd worry.

The SRT reps are SWEET, but not.... Ghetto "steal me" sweet

WTF

I'm pretty sure I have the basics. That's why it's a big decision, if they are gone I probably wouldn't get another set and trust me any wheel that looks enticing in NY is likely to be stolen. My cousins Acura TL Type S wheels (stockers) were stolen and his car was left on newspaper bundles or blocks I forget. And I live 5 minutes away. If I had a garage to park it then would get the repros in a heartbeat but I'm starting to rethink that (haven't eliminated it though)

One of the best looking wheels out there for the WJ/WK in my opinion, plus they're easy to clean.

Go with the Gloss Black reps Charlie....there's no reason to be so paranoid...like Frankie said...if a thief wants to steal something they'll steal it...and wheels locks are usefull...the have to have the right tools to get one of those off without the key...

It'll look great! You won't regret it!

Will the Viper Reps fit the WJ?

Martyp
10-05-2009, 03:56 PM
Yep, viper reps will fit the WJs. I was gonna get a set but I couldn't wait that long for them coming out.

Machined face with gloss black innards would make a good alternative and it'd be more unique.

Yeah true

Oh by any chance for those with 275/45 tires, do your tires cover the edge the wheel or atleast protect it a bit from the curb just out of curiosity.

They weigh a few pounds more than the SRT8 real rims, they are lighter than the regular WK/WJ stock rims.

And these are WJ's we are talking about. 4.0 and 4.7's they dont move that fast unless they are highly modded. And a majority of the WJ owners do not race. Only Sleepy does.
