Is the 2012 4 door Sahara worth $35k???? I always wanted a high HP Wrangler (Hemi or 400+ hp).
Does the new engine make this a mall crawler and highway friendly? :slapfight:
My wife mentioned she wanted a new car and her suggestions were a Sahara 4 door and a 4 door mini Cooper. The mini is $50k and the Jeep $35k after EP discount.
Opinions welcome. BTW she drives me SRT8 Jeep every chance she gets.
She also had a fully loaded Wk ltd Hemi before and I think she misses it. Should I buy her a WK2 Overland instead??

I drove a 2012 today! The interior is VERY nice! The V6 seemed to perform VERY well. Drive it...youll like it. The 2012 is like 4 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile than the 2011.

Took a 2012 Artic Edition for a test drive this week. Very nice Jeep.
The power around town is "adequate", it is less than impressive on the on ramp. Jeep did an excellent job keeping it a "Wrangler" but adding modern features. (Heated seats, decent stereo, blue tooth, steering wheel controls). It has as much usable space inside as my WK1. If this had the Hemi option I would order it, maybe next model change.
The EP price on the one I would order is ~$33k (MSRP ~$38k).
On a side note there was a Citadel Hemi Durango (nice interior) on the showroom floor. The EP price on this would be ~$39k for $6k more than the Wrangler this seems like the better value for daily use.

Did the Jeep bounce all over the road when you drive over a bump

Almost. The Artic Edition Jeep I drove looked bad ass. I had comments of "Looks like a Hummer" and "It looks like it wants to run over something".
I should have added that the breaks seemed weak. It took much longer to stop.
I also noticed I drove about 10mph slower than in my SRT8 in like conditions.

I was driving on a country road and it was windy. I had both hands on the wheel and with my SRT8 I only need one. The wind blew the box all over the road.

I think this answers my question on value. I still have a hard time spending $35k on a wrangler.

I just ordered one for a less than the 35. Not to rank on what I drive now - because it has been a reliable steed for a long time - I think the Sahara will be amazing. Current car is low to the ground can't wait to see over other people's bumpers again. : )

I have owned my 12 Sahara for 2 months now, most options. We just finished a 2K round trip in it. It rides real nice, has plenty of highway power, and just great overall. We have the 3.23 gears, so you think it would be kinda slow concerning acceleration. It is actually pretty quick. Where the 3.23 gears are noticeable is crusing at highway speeds in TN and KY hills. While on cruise control it will downshift on all moderate hills, usually just out of overdrive. Even so, i still get 19mpg.
I am happy with my purchase and would do it again.

How do the kids like the back seat??? Our truck has nearly 90 degree back rests that they hate. My car had wonderful seats (Neon). Just wondering since you just did a road trip how did the kids like the comfort in the back? Oh and I have a grandchild on the way...will a carseat fit in there without having to make the passenger have to pull seat to far forward? Just wondering. : )

Lots more room than my Honda Fit! There is plenty of room for the kids and any grown up, no need to move the seat up at all for any car seat.
My kids are 12, 10, and 5. The seats are sloped comfortably.
The back seats are not a comprise. You will be satisfied.

We have a car seat in my JKU and it fits. I will say my wifes pacifica has MUCH more room for this but I expected that. Its still loads better than our 2009 Malibu was for room and my 2 year old loves how he can see everything.

Compared to the Mini, I assume the SUV-crossover, it's a tough call. The mini, for it being so small also has very usable interior space and is easy to tune for more power. Now, is it worth the extra 15k?
