Thanks to Timmy's thread, I tried what he did and PRESTO!, my dual color LED's are finally alive and well. I ran them for a good while, went for a ride, turned the blinkers on and off and whatever else it did to piss me off but NOT ANYMORE. Lol. Stayed on and came back to white a second after the amber went off. I had the two existing 3 Ohm resistors from VLEDS and the one and only 1.2 Ohm resistor I got from ebay. I put the 1.2 Ohm on the driver's side because as you know its a tight spot. I than put the two 3 Ohm resistors in parallel (which made it 1.5 Ohms) on the passenger side. These single 1.2 Ohm resistors seem extremely hard to come buy so as an alternative you can just order four 3 Ohm resistors from VLEDS instead of two. If you have two already, get two more. I've been back and forth with Jake from VLEDS and he said he would definately get these 1.2 Ohm resistors if this was the fix. For those of you that have patience, by all means, wait for that day. Lol. Thanks again Timmy and whoever else helped you out.

Check out Eddies thread

http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=3180

They are dual colored LED that are white for driving and change to able when flashing (hazards or blinker).

Thanks Matt!!

And incase you still don't know V-LEDs is a website which sells LED bulbs. The particular one we are talking about is the Type 2 or Stage 2 I forgot the name bulb. Basically, its functions as two colors white for running and amber for turning but in order to accomplish this you need to use resistors and splice in the wires. I did on mine months ago and its awesome. I highly suggest them as long as you WK guys have you resistors figure out.

VLEDS is a company that makes and sells all kinds of LEDs for your vehicle. They pretty much have every bulb for your vehicle in LED.

I'd say thats an exclusive group right now  Anybody else have it?

Awesome to hear you got them working properly now. And thanks for the credit, though all I really did was come across a guy selling used resistors on ebay and bought a bunch of diff ones. I got the 3ohm with the dual LEDs and they stayed off, I then spliced in a 7ohm and the LED didnt work at all, so tried a 1.2ohm I had and FINALLY worked.

IMO these dual LEDS are sick and worth the 50 bucks ONLY if they are going to last along time, I expect them to last the lifetime I have this car. They appear to match my 6500K HID lows very well and they are very bright so I use them for DRL's pretty much. If they burn out like some of my ebay bought interior LEDs I will be very pissed and will not buy replacements and switch back to stock. I was under the impression LEDs last forever basically, and so far so good with the dual 3157 blinkers. BUT, if they do happen to burn out I will be writing V-Leds for free replacements, just because of the price they charge and left me to figure out what resistors I needed.

I have been back and forth with VLEDS and he seems like the type that will replace them no problem. Thats the impression I got from him. When I emailed him about these damn things finally working, I DID mention that YOU were the one to thank so we'll see what he says.

I think I already posted this on another thread, but will here too. To hook up two resistors in PARALLEL just splice the wires of the second resistor to the wires of the first resistor. Can use splice taps or solder them together and cover with shrink tubing which I like to do.

hehe yeah these 2 threads are very similar and i posted i think in both:) thanks bro! hopefully v-leds can give me 2 extra resistors or hopefully can get their hands on the 1.2-1.5 ohm resistors...

TimmyB
10-12-2009, 02:35 PM
But you never know though, yours could work with the 3ohm resistors like some WK owners on here. But, i find it hard to believe some need 3 and some need 1.2 in the same vehicle. Def odd.

B.P.O.D
10-13-2009, 07:09 AM
yeah i dont know what's up with that. i have a feeling they won't bc mario also has an 08 and his didn't work with the 3ohm

Anyone have any luck with Vleds and getting free stuff for our headaches?

TimmyB
01-05-2010, 04:43 PM
Vleds got in contact with me, figured i'd post it in this thread also. Bill from Vleds says he's working on getting the 1.2 ohm resistors. Keep your eyes open for em there.

Hi Tim,
First off thank you so much for using our products. We are very happy you
like them and we appreciate your business.

I'm glad you were able to troubleshoot that issue. As you know, with so
many possible applications with cars and bulbs, sometimes we don't know all
the fixes. If we had the chance to have every car in our R&D department for
an afternoon, we would undoubtedly have all the answers. Troubleshooting the
issues from a far can be challenging, as we are missing a very important
part of the puzzle, the car.

We are trying to secure a good source for the 1.2Ohm Resistors, hopefully we
will have those available soon. In the meantime, I may have a solution
similar to the one that you posted on the forum. We could take a couple
3ohms and put them on our double mounting plates, do the soldering and
include a cover over the whole thing. This would make it safer and easier
for those less inclined. Owners could paint them very easily as well, to
blend in better.

Let me know your thoughts on that if you have a moment. I'll try to get a
mock up soon and can shoot you a pic if you like.

Finally, we really appreciate your support on this fix as well as on the
forums. We would be happy to come up with a new Promo Code, specifically for
you & your forum members. Most the existing ones out there are set to expire
at years' end.

I was thinking we would create Promo Code "TIMMYB" which you can share with
your community, and if there is something special you are working on ie your
next mod, let me know. Maybe I can try and get you a sweeter deal on what
you need!

Let me know what you think, and if you don't mind having the code named
after you, we could name it JEEPGARAGE if you prefer!

Thank you,

Bill

Well its really not that hard to solder two 3ohm resistors together. Yea it will cost double for the resistors but it will work. Can always check ebay, thats where I got a whole bunch on them, they were all used but work 100% and dirt cheap. I have a box full of different types right now for future projects.

On ebay someone's selling the 1.2ohm 50 watt resistors. Two are $9.99+ 6 bucks shipping. just FYI. I typed in "1.2 ohm resistors" and they pop up down the page.

Cool, just letting people know. Those look brand new and the seller seems to have alot and other ones also. Prob a good connection to have if people are doing led's. Now if Vleds.com would only contact them. Lol. I think they told me there set-up of having two 3ohms wired together with a box around them was like 40 or 50 bucks. Thats alot.
