Hi everybody,

My first post, thought hell why not a good one.

I am not new to Jeep / Chrysler. For several years I was an indepandent product trainer here in Belgium.
Also I have had a 300C CRD SRT design on wich I putted 230.000 km in nearly 3 years.

I purchased 2 weeks ago a Black Grand Cherokee S-Limited from 2007 with 130,000 km

Now, I always loved the GCSRT8 , but here in Belgium it's just not realistic to drive more than 80,000 km a year on petrol....

So I decided to build myself a real SRT - Diesel.

What do I mean with "real"

Well I purchased :
- Brand new GCSRT8 front seats, those were my first mod (came from a left hand drive car so I have now L and R height adjustable seats)
- Front & back Brembo's with discs
- Front & back SRT8 bumpers & side skirts
- Front & back springs & dampers (original SRT8)
- Complete SRT8 exhaust system (this is a real challange as I have a hitch & don't want to loose it)
I still need the rear sway bar, but I am going to install first all this...

So far for the body mods. But with looks like SRT8 I need a little more oumpf if you now what I mean.

I think that the OM642, the V6 320 cdi mercedes engine is a great engine... , with huge power potential (they presented in 05 or 06 a 320SLK diesel with a tripple turbo concept pushing 285HP & more then 700nm)

Problem with this engine is the tiny wheeny supercharger from garrett the 2056 and no matter what people think or tuning box guys say, to get more then 260 HP out off this charger is not possible.

Due to the fact that the turbocharger is installed in the V of the engine, it's very hard to upgrade the turbocharger....

UNTILL NOW :) :)

Mercedes has made a new 350cdi engine with standard from the factory 265 HP and they do this with a new turbo from garrett the GTB2260VKLR.
Water cooled ball bearing & able to make 330 HP

Guess what I recieved in the mail today :) :)

And let's see what DPF removal, EGR blocking, GTB2260VKLR, SRT8 exhaust & a tuner with experience will get out off this diesel...

More pics will follow

Looks like this is going to be an awesome build. Interesting fact about the stock turbo though. So to go bigger we need to get a bigger turbo off the bat then.

I haven't done the exhaust yet, but I can tell you NO :) it doesn't bolt right up.
I am first taking out the dpf and delete the EGR. After mayby Cat if needed.

I bought the exhaust for the bends and the tips ...

im really curious about the exhaust,
i used to drive a 3.5L chrysler 300 and i bolted a 5.7 exhaust to it and it fit perfectly

how much was the turbo? if u dont mind me asking...

Yeah, but the diesels are different, the exhaust line is different.
You know they were produced in Graz, Austria?

Turbo is very hard to find, was 1800 usd :(

They were a steal actually, I found original (euro) rims and the seats from a totalled one with 8 miles on the odo, the seats were still covered in plastic... 650 usd fot the 2
2 rims were dented wich I had repared, I mount them today.

Wheels and suspension

Getting 275/40/20 winter tires on a 8 inch euro rim was a real challenge :slapfight:
Next getting rid of the tiny brakes & bumpers & side skirts.
Bumper is also a challenge, I purchased a used 08 one, presented it today , well it needs some welding & cutting :)

But now first New Year and a week holidays, we are off skiing in France till 8/1 so no updates

See you all next year

Awesome build. Cant wait to see more progress. Not completely a fan of the Euro 8" SRT wheels but you cant beat that price.

Did the 07 S limited WK have the srt styled seats? I know in the US the newer S limited had SRT8 seats with out the srt8 logo.

I also like your stock wheels alot. It seems that Jeep put 7 and 10 spoke wheels stock on the WK but we never got those wheels offered in the US.

As far as the front bumper goes, you will need to change to an 08 grille and you can either change to 08 headlights or you might be able to trim the "humps" off under the headlights area to make it fit but you WILL need the Grille either way.

I can sell you the wheels if you want :D

Actually I am using the original grill :D
The trimming doesn't work, I tried.
I am cutting the original bumper half an inch further then the grill and headlights, the the same thing on the srt bumper, then we weld the plastic together and thatha, 07WK 07Headlights 07 Grill & modified 08 bumper

Yes, my buddy is doing the programming.

How deleting the DPF?
You take off the exhaust, cut the dpf, empty it and weld back again.
Then DPF delete in the ECU

NHWK05
01-15-2012, 05:50 AM
The MBRP exhaust for the 3.0 1' completely deletes the DPF and the muffler. All it is is a straight pipe from the flange back. Is that not legal there?

Its designed for wks with a dpf it says. All the pictures and installs I've seen show it as a straight pipe from the flange all thw way back.(Edit read further and its filter back) Its hard to read every line on a phone. LOL

I have that MBRP system on my keep and have not noticed a difference other then sound, when you stomp on the pedel. I'm glad I didn't pay the $1000 plus price tag that comes with it. As I got the last 309 series system MBRP Canada had so I got it for $250. Plus when I went to put it on, and got it all done etc it was not fitting right, so I took it to an exhaust shop and they had to remove a good 3-4" off to get it to fit right. It's a great system but as I said I was expecting more then I got.

Yeah generally bb turbos are pretty picky about the oil pressure usually require some sort of restrictor.

First impression, without the DPF, Cat & resonator it moans a little rougher, also inside.

It started right up but trowed alot of codes, going into limp & engine check light because of the dpf not seeing any difference in pressure. So we fool the computer.

EGR delete is done, without deleting this the turbo makes no boost.

We start to understand the bosch EDC16 better.

My tuner found the boost, rail pressure & torque limiters.

When driving max torque we saw on the computer was 490nm.

Current tuning is very mild, more coming !

Do you know if unplugging the MAF sensor will affect the swirl motor operation ? If so I guess it will help the fuel economy. I've seen bunch of threads on a other forums with respect to a tune that keeps the swirl valves opens and prevents the swril motor for failures ?

I think the only function is for the DPF?
mount a catch can & block the EGR... The swirl will be fine

Oh yeah of course ... To prevent oil in the intake and protect the swirl motor, gotcha.
