Jeep taking some serious OFF ROAD Jeeps to SEMA this year.
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2009/10/sema-preview-two-serious-off-road-mopar-jeeps-headed-to-vegas.html

One is a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with a "5.7-liter HEMI V8 and a Getrag six-speed manual transmission. To get all that power to the ground are new front and rear axles with 5.38 gears and ARB air lockers". Plus "20-inch Mopar wheels and 40-inch tires, while keeping the car’s center of gravity as close to stock as possible". SERIOUS STUFF!

The other is a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon that gets "3-inch suspension lift and rear sway bar, 17-inch wheels and 35-inch tires, as well as a heat-reduction hood, snorkel, off-road lights, new AEV steel bumpers and a winch".

SWEET!

What's sick (IMO) is the 5.7L HEMI w/6-speed tranny!! WOOT! That's just got to be wickedly fast on the street even with 40" tires!

I'm pretty sure those Getrags cost a pretty penny. That's what comes in Porches, right?

The 6 speed Getrag is factory in an R34 GTR Skyline :D
It would bolt to a hemi with a custom bell housing adaptor.
And even better guys, the GTR is 4wd as you know, and even better, the transfer case is strong as an Ox. :) In the R34, the transfer case is mounted on the incorrect side to suit a WK, but can be turned 180 degrees with the help of an adaptor.

Who's doing it? lol

** you'll need a complete aftermarket EMS to run the engine though, as the factory one ties in with the factory auto.

thats because of those body mods..

anyone know what the wheels are?

Marlin

I'd expect the wheel would be custom billet, typical of factory show cars.

I can check my JP magazine on the wheels they did a full article on that..

They even took an SJ (grand wagoneer) and threw a 6.1 in that monster.

I saw this in person just a few weeks ago at an off-road show...Built by Mopar Underground.

They also had the TrailHawk, Hurricane and a export desert-style military Jeep!

Pretty sweet stuff...They need to actually make some of these though or make them a factory kit or something!

Kinda upsets me a bit, it's like look at this sweet shit we can do, but we are not going to! We will make a dumb'd down US version with 13 cupholders....WTF! They need to quit asking soccer moms their opinions!

Ben knows about all the cool shit they have over there in Oz...and why did my Jeep come with a fishing pole for an antenna, is this incase I get hungry and forgot my fishing pole...lol?

Big red Ram looks and sounds a bit gay.
I have a serious amount of pre-cum weeping through my shorts at the thought of owning that yellow SJ though.
i wonder how one goes about procurring an ex Mopar Underground vehicle for one's self once they've finished with said vehicle.

I know a guy on this site that has an uncle that's also an engineer.....

Big Red might sound gay, or like a stick of gum, but Mopar is going to actually offer a lift kit for the RAM.

More SJ information:
This is a '78 Cherokee Chief that was fabricated by current and retired Chrysler LLC Jeep engineers from a rust-free SJ found in Oregon. Its long list of equipment includes a 6.1L Hemi, Rock-Trac 4:1 transfer case, JK Rubicon axles, Wrangler 4.5-inch long arm suspension, and Goodyear MT/R 37-inch tires. This thing is a blast to drive. We'd like to think that Jeep is considering trotting out a retro Wagoneer.

Jeep obviously can make just about anything you can imagine. They might even make it available to the public except for liability. Imagine when some stupid moron got ahold of one of these Wranglers and tried to drive it like a sports car? Over it goes and the jerk sues Chrysler. Unfortunately, in this litigious country we live in, they can't make these sweet vehicles for us because people do not take blame for their own actions.

So I was talking to a friend of mine at Mopar... I mentioned this post, and he laughed and said that he was sitting in it (the JK) as we were talking (he's getting vehicles ready for SEMA), the other tidbit he shared, is that the Lower Forty JK is the 1ST JK ever built...has now been made into what you see in the first picture.
