Hello everyone,
it has been a farily mild winter thus far in Michigan with barely any snow until today, which we only got an inch...
Last week i washed my Jeep and took a few pictures...

so i almost considering putting my Jeep up forsale yesterday to buy an Red '03 F-150 fx4 with 90k miles but my dad said to just save up for a new one in a couple years instead of dealing with another used car. Then once i looked at these pictures i realized i have way too much time and money invested in my Jeep so ill keep her for a while longer.. I love my Jeep:cool:

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Nice job on the clean up!! :polish:

Like the 'built with wrenches' decal on the rear window!

I was in the same boat as you about this time last year when someone key'd mine. Thought of just putting up with it and getting something else this year when the loan finished. Then after thinking about it I knew that'd be crazy. So I repainted the doors and other areas, fixed any niggles and it looks brand new. I don't think I could part with mine now, just make her more beautiful...

That is funny that you were looking at a 2003 FX4. I sold my 2003 FX4 to buy my 2005 WK Limited and proceeded to add lift and other options. Glad I did.

Thanks. I have 2.5" Rusty's springs with a 3/4" leveling kit up front. I had a 2" budget boost but wanted bigger. The jk Sahara 32's barely clear... I need to do some trimming, but for a daily driver its good enough.
I have 2" daystar spacers bb for sale.. pm me if u want them. I'll give you a good deal

That's about the best news I could hear. I have a leveling kit and I've had my eye on the Rusty's springs for about 4-6 months (just haven't pulled the trigger). Looks awesome!

I got a great deal on the Rustys springs... A guy put them on his Jeep for like week then decided to get a 6 inch lift.. I'm very happy with them. Cheapjeep also has them on his '04 overland.

Did you use the stock shock for the lift or change them to better shocks (which ones)?

Paint looks REALLY good...someone's been polishing. Looks super clean man. And Ford trucks ain't got chit on our Jeeps. I think that particular make and model had some serious spark plug issues, so make sure you do some extra homework before spending any $$ on an Eff Juan Fitty. My buddy has an 04 I think and they are known to fuse the spark plugs to the blocks making a simple tune up just about impossible. Not to mention the plugs themselves are stupid expensive. Just a heads up in case you're in the market...

If he has an 04 it's not an issue at all. The issue is with F-150 and Mustangs from 05-10 (it might end in 2009) when Ford decided to switch from a 1 piece spark plug to a 2 piece spark plug. My parents bought a 06 F-150 and the first thing I did was change the spark plugs for them to 1 piece plugs (then you don't have problems). If that hasn't been done, an impact will take them out just fine w/out issues.

I would say that Jeeps don't have shit on the Fords. Not starting a brand war here, just being realistic. I had a 04 Mustang and my parents have the 06 F150. The only work ever done on those was simple oil changes. The same is FAR FAR from true w/ my Jeep.

Jeeps are known to have problems. Literally everyone I talked to before buying my Jeep told me about the issues that Jeeps have and how there's always something to fix. They were right, but I wouldn't trade my Jeep for any other vehicle.

Regardless of the quality of Jeep's and Ford's, It's obvious that the European and some of the Asian car manufacturers still build superior vehicles.

It's a damn shame, that with outsourcing :(

I said that the same way I said to all the Packers fans last week that their Packers ain't got shit on my NY Giants. We all know the Packers are an amazing team, and that the Giants have the tendancy to "break down" more, but when you're a true fan, you're a true fan...and other than the new Mustang and maybe the Raptor truck, there isn't a Ford out there I'd trade a Jeep for. That's just me though. :D

I think my buddy's got an 04, but I could be mistaken. He priced out having it done and it came back at some incredibly expensive $$, and that's the explanation that was given. Other than that, and some regular maintenance issues (brakes, front bearings), he's been happy with his F-150. You won't catch me in one though.

I want to paint my bumper and rear black or charcoal color any tips on how you did yours?

1. first i removed the bumpers off the Jeep.
2. wash them really good!
3. dry them, and clean them with wax and tar remover
4. once cleaned really good, spray few coats of adhesion promoter.
5. once dry i used Duplicolor paint for plastic bumpers-black..
6. a few coats of that with plenty of dry time
7. follow it up with some clear coat and let sit for a day or two and install.

-an easier way i wish i had gone was just done all the cleaning steps and painted them with truck bed coating so i didnt have to clear coat them...
-word of advise, make sure you do this in the summer time so its warm... just a heads up

Thank you Tony. Also thanks for the heads up, i have heard about spark plug problems.. my girlfriends dads '02 f-150 has 250k miles and runs great! regular maintainence and 2 trans rebuilds but original 5.4 v8. im going to hold off a couple years and get a new ecoboost or Raptor... im hoping they will join them together. i have a 1/4 saved already for a brand new one :D

My wheels and tires are the 18"/32" combo off of '07+ wrangler Sahara's... Your gonna need about 3 inches of lift for them to clear...

Are you rubbing when it's flexed out? Or on full lock when you're turning? Do you know where it's rubbing?

Yes they rub when flexing. Basically on the front bumper but I have done no trimming yet.. at full lock on flat ground no rubbing. They clear the control arms and clear the bumper by like half an inch lol. But like I said I need to do some trimming. I love these rims and tires tho...

$800 J/K bro. Here's the deal. I've watched you turn that Jeep of yours into something really nice on nothing more than a shoestring budget. You've really worked hard at it. Being the old fart that I am I really appreciate that kind of drive. That's old school stuff. How's you pay the shipping and I'll even throw in the red shock boots(Since they wont fit on my Bilsteins anyway:lol:)There's one catch though.I stole my hose clamps that I used for the bottom of the boots and if I see you using zip ties on them I'll hate you forever:lol:Get your own hose clamps.:D The shocks have about 5k on them and have a tiny bit of rust on them from one winter. I'll post a pic here sometime tomorrow and try to get a line on shipping if you're into it.

and going to college part time, my Jeep has become my hobby and my stress reliever(until something doesn't go right ya know) lol. I try to keep up with you guys and do what I can... Every mod of mine besides tint has been done by me with my dads help when needed. I've learned a lot from him and you all on this forum so I really appreciate it. Wait until I get my build thread together and you see how my jeep started. Bone stock!!!

God I Love Jeeps, all ive had were F350's and I love them, but I traded my last on in on My 03 limited, and at first I was sad (traded in for more family friendly vehicle). AND THEN IT SNOWED!!! So much more fun. My F350 did a whole lot better in 2' plus, but I havent lifted my jeep yet. Good looking ride man, even when theyre lowered they look great.
