My rad fan is rattling like crazy and I'm pretty sure it's on it's final days. When I was driving home I noticed my coolant temp was higher than normal and heard a strange noise, so I decided to pull into the gas station for better lighting to look under the hood. I noticed my fan (shroud and all) was rattling like crazy and it sounding like sh*t (grinding). I'm guessing it's time is very near???
Does anyone know of a good/great replacement brand of rad fan or am I stuck replacing it with an OEM? Also if not OEM than what diameter should I go? 14"? Gonna do the work myself (out of warranty), so I just need a little help on the replacement fan side of things.
Thanks in advance.

I would replace it with the oem. Something might of caught in the fan causing it too tear apart

Umm… an OEM fan has a more exposed guts except for the fan shroud but I'd be willing to give up the fan shroud for a more reliable fan.
Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of using an aftermarket fan?

As far as reliability, they have not been problematic on the Jeeps. You can get a brand new one from Jeep for around $140-$160 ($179 MSRP). You can get an aftermarket fan/shroud assembly for ~$105 shipped if you want to go that way but no idea how good they are vs OEM. Personally, I'd feel much more comfortable with the OEM replacement.

Milous, if I was to go with an aftermarket I was thinking of fabricating a shroud using aluminum that would use factory mounting locations. Do you know if I should get a 14" or 16" fan? I haven't torn into it yet so I didn't check any measurements as of yet, just looking for a little input first. Is the oem fan 14"?

none of my business but is all that extra effort really worth it to save 1 tanks worth of gas dollar wise? not to mention its now gonna be non oem parts. not something i would do to so new a vehicle.
