can i have a muffler powder coated? scott? rob?
FlyinRyan

Irfan, you can coat it with VHT flameproof. Most of my exhaust is done this way. Costs 8 bucks at any parts store.

Go to Advanced Auto Parts they have same things you could paint it. Goes with a flat black. Do a few coats. But sand it down first.

No sanding needed. It'll stay on so long as the surface is not overly dirty. A few coats is best.

Any parts store, Irfan......
It comes in a bunch of different colors. I used their dark grey, which in actuality was a gray. Not my first choice but I've grown used to it. I would go with a black.

If you paint it before you get it installed, make sure you don't paint the edges where they weld. It might be an issue.

yeah i was thinking about taping off the 2" at the ends and the opening at both sides. i dont think i could do this curing procedure though!!!

Irfan, just wait till it's on the truck. It's a good way to keep the welds the shop makes from rusting. Go ahead and get it installed.

Guys like Irf said... It sounds better in person than in the video. I was actually impressed that it sounds that good in a V6, at idle it sounds like a V8, no joke.
Irf, pass by the shop tomorrow and I'll take a better video/audio with my camera, inside the garage. We can also put it on the lift to take more pictures ;).
I've heard other V6s with aftermarket mufflers and to me this one sounds the best.
BTW, Irf, tell me what you think about the install.
Personally, I think Aramis knows his shit when it comes to custom exhaust installs. I told you he is an excellent welder, I think you agree on that right? Did you see how he checked everything first before welding, making sure nothing looked out of place, twisted or crooked. He even lined up the Magnaflow logo to look nice for the pictures lol.
Aramis does awesome work on Mustangs and all cars in general, he's an excellent mechanic and I highly recommend him to anyone local that's looking to do any exhaust work on their jeeps. He is the one that installed the mufflers on all my jeeps, Joe's jeep and now Irf. I think we are all very pleased with the work he did.
Ohh, he owns an extremely fast turbo Mustang and a Jeep WJ too. He knows jeeps very well also.
The name of his shop is ARYTECH Motorsports.

ummm well it's definitely louder than stock. but its not like where you can't have a convo. i picked up a buddy of mine and we drove around and we can have a convo perfectly fine. i didn't want a lot of drone from the inside either! i havent sat in the back seat yet though!

u know i was thinking that too!!!! i dont know where i can get just a resonator... flyin ryan and timmy helped me the most with this set up. timmy said don't get a whole cat back and ryan pretty much picked this muffler out for me....
thanks scott:)

Irf,
I am convinced I want this, ONLY I can do no muffler and just resonator. If I have that setup, I wont fail emissions right? (Apologies since im NOOBLET when it comes to those things). Also the last thing to convince me is Timmys video lol.

I think you will fail emissions when they do the visual because that's a race muffler. I am going to fail emissions too in January but I am just going to let it lapse. LOL

Am I missing something here, why paint a muffler when its already stainless. Lol.
TimmyB
11-06-2009, 02:53 PM
But, the shop I got my srt exhaust installed at used just aluminum tubing, so I will be painting it and everything else under there thats not stainless steel for rust protection. The VHT is a good paint to use with high temps.. Im thinking of just using brake caliper spray paint since it doesnt require a primer.
