"Service Tire Press. System" I got this message on the EVIC today. I've had my Jeep for 4 years and have never seen this. It's not the low pressure indicator. The manual says there may be a fault in the system and it should go to an authorized dealer for repair. Anybody else have experience with this message. Do you think simply disconnecting/reconnecting the battery would solve the problem.

if you take it to any firestone or tire center they have tools there that tell which sensor is the bad one ... mine did the same thing also ...
1) ask them to reset the tpms system ...
2) if problem still persists ask them to locate the bad sensor with their device (my friend works at firestone and he helped me find it with his sensor thing sorry don't know the name of it)
3) If sensors show all good and you reseted and problem still persists ... that's out of my expertise but I will ask him for you tomorrow. PM me if problem still persists.

I had a guy tell me that the battery life in the sensors is about 4-5 years. Could be that.

^^^ that's exactly what happened to one of mine and the other one my friend said the other one was just dead as in not working anymore ...

Better off replacing all 4 if you have the money. Start fresh.

The factory service manual states that the battery life is up to 10yrs, so yeah about half that is probably closer to reality. :D
The batteries can not be replaced.

Nope they can't. Have to replace the whole sensor. J4J has them for about $50 a pop but I've heard ebay has them for half that.

How do you know which is the bad sensor. The EVIC is displaying the correct pressure for all 4 tires. Is it possible it's the spare that's the problem. I've been out of warranty for almost a year. Just trying to save myself some dough. If I know which one it is, I can buy one and have any tire shop put it in.

there is a device which can tell which frequency is out ... you might want to google it or check ebay for it ...
did you get a quote from firestone it shouldn't be that expensive at all to check which one is bad ...
or just go the easy route replace all of them :) you can find cheap buys for all of them on ebay ... that's what ended up doing ... plus will save you the hassle of having to check which one it is ...
The evic will display the correct pressure the warning is for the batteries dying down ...

If you have the deluxe tpms that shows the individual sensors on the evic you also have 3 gizmos that tell the evic which sensor is in each wheel well. They are mounted behind the wheel well linner of the two front tires and the rear right tire. Could be that one of those is heading south. Who knows really? But I think it would pay to take it somewhere with the ability to diagnose the entire system before replacing all the sensors which is going to take going to a wheel installation place anyway.

07 with 32k. Same message came up the other day. Replaced a sensor. Few weeks later - message came up again. So they replaced the entire system. So far so good.

Question... for an 09 that tells the pressure in each tire, if I ratate the tires does it automatically adjust?

ALSO...I ran into another issue...when you have a 5th TPMS (The premium system or whatever they call it) and your SPARE tire goes low/dies/out, then you will also receive a notice (I found out the hard way via blown tire then some research...) IDK what system you have but take a look...

Like I mentioned before tire places usually don't charge much to check the system. Also if possible go to a local dependable shop rather than those expensive franchises.
Nate - I don't know what ratate is but I do know that after rotating your tires it does set it self automatically after 40 turn ons of your vehicle why that number I'm not sure but that's how it is in the 06 tpms system ...

thanks for the replies. mine is an 06 limited with the premium tpms. i've had the tire pressure warning light come on multiple times/evic display over the last 4 years. i learned about the spare the 1st winter with the wk. this message was different from the previous ones. "Service Tire Press. System." Last year, I had new tires put on at a "tires plus" and they supposedly put all new sensors in. they said they had to go to the jeep dealer to get them because they didn't have the right ones. they charged me for 4 of them. said it wasn't a good idea to re-install the old ones in new tires. so those monitors are only a year old.

in my 07 I'll get the service sensor message and one of the psi readings will be blank, used to do that when I first bought the car, has not happened in over 6 weeks now..

This is So Funny Because I just got a Light the Other Day, and the Rear Tire Went Blank For No Reason, and what makes it more silly is the Rims are From an 07 So, But in my Endeavor i only recently added a Iphone Charger with a Radio Transmitter. The Next Day While Using it it Happened, Same Thing The Next Time. So im Driving and im like well the only new thing i added was this iphone fm transmitter, i unplug it no less than 5 mins later the light goes away and system comes back. All Tires Reporting. I Left it Off all Day NO Issue. Coincidence or something else!

that's the first time I have heard of that problem but I guess the frequency does interrupt with the tpms system ...
