View Full Version : GROUP BUY!!! New production of Thermal R&D 5" tips!

Harrison@Stage6
06-10-2009, 10:32 AM
I just got off the phone with Chuck at Thermal R&D and I asked him about making us some 3" inlet 5" Out x 8" Angle Cut Double Walled tips for us and they're down for it! If we can get 5 people together for 10 ten and more..... then our price will be $80.00/tip. It will take about 4 weeks for them to be made since they're kinda slammed right now. Normal price on the tip would be $99.85 and he said he'd hook us up for $80.00. It's good for me.... any other takers? Here's a pic of mine which are the same tips, but NOT angle cut. I will say that quality is top notch on these. Mirror finish and pimp looking!
And mine have been straightened since this picture for all you anal people!!

Here's the list....

No..... these 2 match! Good question... I'd have to say the Tips since they're chrome vs. polished/clear coated.

Man I so focking pissed at the red site. That site has just flat out turned to shit! This NSV crap is seriously getting out of hand over there. NAME ME ONE FOCKING VENDOR THAT SELLS THESE?!?! Or any 5" tip for that matter. Totaly horse shit. I'm done over there. I want my money back as far as being a lifetime supporter!

What they told me was that it doesn't matter if you're in competition or not. And that you can't sell: repeats or multiples of a same item, anything that is selling on eBay, and anything new.

I don't really like the angle that the exaust ends up at but other wise their pretty cool I could out do any one in the high school parking lot that has exaust without back pressure. lol

JeepGarage.org got censored the same day on the other site we don't speak of that has 'red' borders.

I wonder? If someone put up a post in that other site's discussion on 5" tips and ask members to PM for more info, they could then be directed to jeepgarage.org and learn about the group buy and this better site?

Dan, how about posting up a pic of your tips to show everyone what I'm talking about.

Dan has the tips I'm having made BUT his a 4" inlet not 3". The 4" requires a little more worj for the muffler shop to install whereas most aftermarket SRT8 systems are 3" vs. the 2.75" stock. Just a little FYI.......:D

awesome tips Harrison! I want those...so $80 each or $160 for two

Harrison@Stage6
06-10-2009, 01:15 PM
$160.00 for both. That's pretty good. The cheapest I found was $76.00 for the ones I have now and those were already made. They're custom making these for us. I guess I need to put a time limit on this GB huh? They said at LEAST 5 set(10 tips). We've got 3 sold already from the other site. Let's see how many we can get!

Dan, do your tips slant inwards? Meaning, are they tapered from outlet to inlet?

Not sure what you mean? They are double walled, meaning the outside diameter is 5". The 5" outlet tapers inward approx. 1 1/4" down to 4" and is 4" straight back to the 4" inlet. Huh? Now I'm confused by what I just said

Scottina06

DirtyBlackJeepSRT

Install shouldn't be more than $75 between cutting and welding.

mandan007

I'm sure no one will pay as much as me. Labor, parts and tax = $270.

Holy Freaking Christ BatMan!!!! Did the installer kiss you first? Did he at LEAST give you a reach around? My dude charges us $40.00-$60.00 for install and that's making some manderal bent rear section! Sorry Dan but this dude took serious advantage of you! That sucks but you know what? As long as you're happy spending it and you feel good about it, that's all that matters.:D

Read this thread and saw some people have an idea of prices for exhaust work so im hopeing im not thread jacking. I dont have an srt, obviously, but I want to put another outlet on the other side of my WK. I have the SS magnaflow cat back on now, is it as simple as just cutting and welding another pipe from the tail pipe say in back of the wheel and doing it that way, or is a new muffler needed with dual outlets? I have no knowledge of back pressure and all that jazz. I'd buy these tips then if i had two tailpipes to put em on. lol.

Thanks for putting this together. I wonder, before we go to far, can these folks make a tip that looks more like the Borla tips? The very edge of the tips is rolled and a bit wider than stock and I think that looks cool.

Harrison so were getting the angle cut ones correct on group buy and there 8 inches long. My exhaust is stainless but these tips are chrome? Can we get stainless? I want to replace my B&B tips and if these fit length I will be down. Mine now are 3 in and 4.25 out. Just not sure how long so i got to check tomorrow.

The whole point of having these made is so they DON'T look like the Borla tips. Lots of us don't care for that rolled edge look. If you want something like the Borla they have a Flowmaster tip that looks similar.

These tips are stainless but polished out like chrome. I had B&B tips on mine before I had the Thermal tips put on. They will fit fine with the B&B but will stick out past the bumper 1-2"

Yep, if you have the Thermal tips shortened in the rear it will be as close to flush with the bumper as it can get. Maybe stick .5" out.
