Someone poked a hole in the sidewalk of my GF tire. I've heard that with AWD vehicles that you should replace tires in pairs (either the 2 front or the 2 back) cause it could mess up your alignment and tranny. Is this true and what tires would you recommend

not true....I know guys on clublexus with staggered setups on their AWD. try the goodyear F1 allseasons

No need, just replace one tire. If it's not too expensive I'd suggested putting the same tire on as what the other 3 are.

OMFG I went to Mavis they wanted $340. a tire, and some bridgestone tire dealer said $319. Firestone doesn't stock them and they said they can get it by tomorrow but it was $280. So fat the dealer is the cheepest at $260. a tire. Mavis had the eagle f1 for $160. a tire which isn't bad. But I think I'm just going to replace the stocks at the dealer.

Eagle GTs were only $500 shipped to my door step. Plus the $40 that the dealer charged me to mount them.

I tried to have a place price match tirerack.com prices when I need tires for my Jeep and they said that the price on that site was cheaper than what they got them for at cost

low rolling? what the heck is that?
Sorry Scott, I looked up the proper name for the tire and it is "low rolling resistance tires"
Low-rolling resistance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_resistance) tires are tires which are designed to improve fuel efficiency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_efficiency) of a car by minimizing the energy wasted as heat as the tire rolls down the road. Approximately 5–15% of the fuel consumed by a typical car may be used to overcome rolling resistance.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-rolling_resistance_tires#cite_note-0) A 2003 California Energy Commission (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Energy_Commission) (CEC) preliminary study estimated that adoption of low-rolling resistance tires could save 1.5–4.5% of all gasoline consumption, but that current data were also insufficient to compare safety and other characteristics.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-rolling_resistance_tires#cite_note-1) A database of much more complete data will be released by the CEC pending completion of an ongoing study
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-rolling_resistance_tires
My gas mileage took a 1 mpg dump in both city and highway driving using the Eagles. Also what I've found is that a low rolling tire isn't as good in deep snow or ice.

nate - ultimate compound and a foam applicator... pepboys or autozone... try that should knock it out:) if u wanna do it @ my house let me know
Scottina06

Nate-if the ultimate compound doesnt work....there are other ways. You may have to start with a heavier cut compound and work your way up. You can do it by hand...just takes a lot of elbow grease

I don't know about that. I'm in the north east and most of the IS250 lexus and even infinity g35/37 here are AWD. I even have a different wheels than Scotts wife they 2" smaller (17") so I can't see lexus using a tire that isn't good in the snow. I've drove the car in the snow and it's awesome. Not to say there isn't better snow tires out there.

Low rolling resistence - for fuel economy. Typically they're harder compound and a fair bit less traction/grip than a more normal tyre.

the first year that they made the IS you could get an AWD IS350 but that was a very limited production run.

I am against those tires. Thats why I was telling you to get the Eagle GTs. They grab very nicely in both wet and dry roads.

Then why art they $100. More than eagle f1? Well her next set of tires I'll just replace all with the eagle gt or f1.

Me either. Before they came out I followed he new IS design. My best friend does the advertising for the whole Rallye group in Glen Cove, Long Island and I've never heard of it. And he gets inside leads on Lexus, MB, BMW, and Acura's. But maybe not in this reagon or something. Thats why I give Infinity credit. They're up to 330hp AWD and even in the coupe G37x now.

Ok yall let me clarify things
I mean't to say that the first year of the second gen the IS 350 got AWD.
is that better?
White WK Swagga
06-12-2009, 04:22 AM
Um I dunno. Second Gen 350 isn't that like 2010? The second gen is would have been 2006 so the second year would have been 2007. But this is still the first gen for the 350
